Occult Gambit
Question for anyone - every time I try to use Celestine's Occult Gambit skill, I always end up getting the additional stress rather than the additional AP. Has anyone else been seeing this, or is it just really bad luck on my part?

Just bad luck. Feels like it's about 50% for me, even though it gets frustrating when you hit stress 3-4 times in a row.

Yeah, it's been pretty much what I'd expect for results too. Don't know if it's weighted away from a straight coin toss but it hasn't felt that way for me yet.

Thanks for the feedback all. Yeah, I've used it every time, and it's always added more stress. :\ Will keep at it, hopefully I break the bad streak of luck.

We know for a fact humans are just awful at determining if something is 50:50 or any other percentage.

With 50:50 it is perfectly within the realms of reality to have a 10 losing streak. Or worse.

My experience of this skill is that I got very very lucky at the start of the game with the first 5 or so being wins. Later game it has started to go against me.

I never used it. I simply pretend it's not even there.
Can't make me salty when i never even activate it lol.

3 stress is just too much given how hard it is to reduce. You need to have stress reducing undrawn hand cards before it's actually useful.
When I first started with her it seemed like it was only ever giving Stress. As I have persisted I have seen APs, and even streaks of APs... but also plenty of Stress too. Having a high Stress cap and lots of ways to get rid of Stress is very helpful. Ideally you probably want to plan not to use it except in cases where an extra AP or two right now would be very helpful. Even then, I recommend that you have a plan in mind for how you will play your turn if you don't get the APs, before you click the power.

It's felt about 50% for me the whole game so far. Most people underestimate how many long strings of the same value will occur in a coin flip/50% probability.

Nope, Celeste has lots of ways to heal stress, actually:

* Using a debuff ability - two of her abilities heal stress and you can add even more through cards
* Hitting a poisoned enemy
* Any healing ability (healer passive)
* Any healing consumable (healer passive)

The card vendor also has accessories that can
* Heal stress on kills
* Reduce incoming stress by 1

As far as stress reducing cards, I've only seen Sadist so far, which removes 3 stress on stress breaks - which you should be doing a lot of with Celeste.

And that's just what I've seen so far at week 16. There may even be other things I haven't seen yet.

Don't forget that there's an armour that increases stress maximum. As long as you're not spamming Occult Gambit just because, there's absolutely no issue in keeping Tine's at a manageable level (unless you let Nicastro shrines pop off or something similar, I guess, but that's true of everyone).

Fully kitted Celestine goes pretty whacko mode. WIth a little luck you can end up with AP for days and like half the enemy team charmed to be on your team.
