given how this game's graphics look i would say the performance is really bad
Harebrained (Battletech has never run well, even to this day)
The graphical options are a single slider.
I'll leave this here for anyone seeing this post on the fence about buying.
And then right below that slider are all of the various options the slider controls, for you to adjust as you like to form your own custom setting.
I started out with the default settings the game gave me (high), and my card was getting into the high 80's C, which is hotter than I'd like. I turned the settings down to a custom mix of medium and high, turning off some bells I didn't feel I needed (Bloom and Motion Blur). Now the GPU is running in the low 80's, which is fine. I have FPS locked at 60, and frankly I don't see much point to turning it higher (this isn't a multiplayer first-person shooter), but ymmv.
There are some occasional stutters or FPS dips, and vary rarely there is a longer pause, but nothing that ruins the game. The game would be better if those things didn't happen, of course, but I am still able to enjoy the game just fine around them. Again, ymmv.
I can't explain why people with newer computers and more advanced graphics cards would be getting worse performance, lower framerates, and higher temperatures than I am getting.
