Why is the modding community so dead lately?
I know i'm not the only person who notices, but i haven't seen anyone talk about it. I feel like we lack original content from modders instead of realistic looking military copy and paste. As an OG player from 2020, i feel like i used to check steam workshop and find genuinely original, creative and fun mods, but now it's almost just realistic looking military vehicles and whatnot. Sure, some people like it that way, and i'm not complaining, i'm just curious. :)

Been wondering this myself. The 'Most popular"/new pages are almost always exclusively filled with "realistic" weapons and vehicles or just character skins.
I agree with this, but @Steve ( https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561199430100539 )
Uploads pretty good stuff pretty frequently.

I don't want to put in hours and hours of my own hard work making a map just for it to get a few thousand views, and when people only play featured maps now. Sorry but that's just how the game is now. I have plenty of maps that I can finish and publish, but I most likely won't anymore. Teardown is dead.

Yes! There's an overabundance of military weapons and vehicles on the workshop. They clutter the steam page and bump other mods off the front page constantly. Such unoriginal, brain-dead content. I miss the days before the workshop.

But wouldn't putting that many hours into a mod make the chances of it becoming a featured one more likely?

Although I do agree military mods aren't the most original mods, right now, there aren't actually that many on the front page. Out of the 30 mods on the first page of the "most popular" section (sorted by one week) on the workshop, only 4 of them are military mods.

I wouldn't really say they clutter the steam page too much, and I can't say I've ever seen any instances of them bumping other mods off the front page, besides them just existing.

Also, I wouldn't really call them brain-dead. Unoriginal, yes, but brain-dead?
That seems a bit too harsh.

I couldn't have said it better.

No. You'd think so, right? The Devs don't seem to work like that unfortunately. Besides, we shouldn't have to make mods to compete for a spot on that list to begin with. The workshop and the game were doing fine without it. Now it's all jumbled.

It's brain-dead content simply because they're made for quick subs. People see gun and subscribe. It's like they've forgotten about the thousands of other mods that they barely touch, then complain that a new mod they sub to is broken while having 1000+ mods that may not actually interact with each other very well. Brain-dead content for brain-dead people.

What do you mean "no"? has there been a mod that someone has put quite a ton of hours into that hasn't been featured?
Also, could you elaborate on what you mean when you say "it's all jumbled"?

Yeah, I think you're right in that matter.

Actually, I think I have a clue on what happened.

I believe the reason why the modding community is so dead, is because people are naturally losing interest in the game and not a lot of new modders are replacing the ones that have stopped modding or have left the game.

I remember a time maybe 2 or 3 years ago, where every day there was an entire page of new mods being made every day. These days it's closer to half a page, probably even less than that.

I have a bunch of personal custom vehicles in the style of Teardown, some use the default base game vehicles as a base and I just give them the ol' early 1990s-2000s custom paint jobs for street racing and drag racing too. Then there are 2 maps that I am working on and might upload it. One is completely unique and the other one is "Mansion but Flooded" for those who want to use boats in Gordon Woo's race track. Unsure if Mansion but Flooded can be uploaded to the workshop though..

I am looking for more Teardown style vehicles though (not counting HD looking vehicles)
