Report a translation problem
I have an Xbox One S controller. The actual Xbox version. It just comes up as not detected unless I use Steam Input which, like I said, isn't controller support.

For reference and for anyone else who may google this issue and be trying to find a resolution. The support team helped me out and for some reason if you set the Steam Input configuration to the Tuxedo Labs one and then apply the template it does indeed enable an in game controller support. It seems full from the 5-10 mins I played around with it.
