OpenGL vs Direct3D 12
Hey y'all, I'm looking to see which is the faster graphics renderer, as I'm trying to get as much performance as possible (execpt not bumping down render scale to below 75% as i've turned everything else to low). So which is the faster one?

With my personal experience, I notice much fewer lag spikes with OpenGL, but that's just probably because I'm running the game under Linux. So take that with a grain of salt.

I don't think that switching to DX12 will do much for performance. I'm sure the only reason that they give you the option to switch to DX12 is because they had to implement it for consoles, so they might as well give that as an option to PC users.

Personally I'm also sticking with OpenGL, because in the like 4 minutes I tried Direct3d 12 it had very noticeable lag spikes, so it seems its not just Linux.

But everyone's PC is different, just try both out in a level for 5 minutes or less.

For me I have found a definite improvement with DX12. As some maps before the update would lag out when too much was going on. Now the lag I would get from those maps is still there but not so bad now.

My system is a I7 8700K 32 GB Ram with a RTX 3060 at 1440p.

Same here one map when i starts i had 72 FPS.

Now when the map is starting over 100 FPS.
It all depends on your hardware and OS. Im on Win11 with a 3060 so DX12 is the obvious choice here.

Getting almost double the fps with a 2060 on dx12 here. I managed to reach the engine limit at some point where CPU/GPU usage dropped along with FPS, after blowing everything up with modded c4's. But during normal gameplay 60 fps is much easier to maintain now. There'll be a few spikes on explosions but nothing significant.
