They said that Teardown's $20 price was it's original price when it was released on early access. At that point buildings didn't even disconnect from the world when you break all their connections, and the campaign was very incomplete.
Since then, the whole game has been optimized and quality of life features added, multiple whole maps as well as the rest of the campaign, tons of new features, new tools, I could go on.
The raising of prices is agitating but in this circumstance it makes a lot of sense considering how far the game has come.
