Teardown 2
I think we need a sequel to teardown XD. But this time around it'll have civilians and bigger maps with a different code architecture for the game, so it doesn't cause frame rate issues.

That would be very hard to do, and what would the story even be like?

It wouldn't be very hard to do. The story would follow a similar pattern. Just make some of things non-destructible.

As is this game seems impressively optimized for the simulations it does. But a sequel with actual people / animals in maps and a more thought out story could be amazing.

So it would get a 3/10 from every game reviewer ever?

And this seems a bit... erm...
I don't know the word for it, but it's seems like you're being a bit "optimistic" but in a negative way.

LOL really? The "all it takes is" person. All it takes is to make the game people...come on it couldn't be any easier... as long as it's YOU doing it and not me!

BTW I do want a Tear Down 2, and I hope they can make some headway with some of the issues with Tear Down such as frame rates. As a software developer (not games) myself, I can at least have a vague understanding of the challenges to increase performance along with improving graphics and physics. So hopefully there is a TD2 on the way. But I won't be disappointed if it doesn't perform "better" than TD1 as long as there is some appreciable improvements.

I don't really understand the reason for TD2 at the current state. The devs are still making updates & fixes for Teardown and people are still having some issues with the game. Yeah, a new campaign would be nice though I remember the devs saying part 2 is the last campaign update. Maybe someone in the community will make campaigns (e.g. EVG) but it takes a long time.

It took several years (as far as I know) to develop the custom engine for Teardown.
And as @anytime said; it is hard to increase performance.

Devs are already working on TD Multiplayer [unofficial news] but you can see job description on their hiring page mentions ~~ "TO-DO : Work on TDMP" if they are already testing and doing stuff - then there is literally no need for another sequel

I'm curious how multiplayer will work without hogging a ton of bandwidth. The state of physics objects is mechanically critical to the game and you can easily create dozens and even hundreds of simulated fragments with normal gameplay, and keeping tons of physics data in sync has historically been a major limitation of multiplayer game physics.

It does not mention "TO-DO: Work on TDMP" specifically. It says "Help out with our online multiplayer prototype" in a list of what you will work with as an engine developer.
tuxedolabs.com/job-enginedeveloper.html

Also, on the website of the game itself, in the FAQ it has this:
Q: Does Teardown support online multiplayer?
A: No, at least not currently. Multiplayer is very hard in physics-based games, but it will be investigated. Multiplayer could also become a separate game which uses the same engine.

Dennis also showed a small prototype of multiplayer on his Twitter account. Can't link it because Twitter is login-only now.

I heard Dennis is considering licensing the custom engine to other developers, I'd love to see other games using the TD framework.

I'd donate in a heartbeat if the Mors Longa modders decided to make a full game out of that mod.

Yes, especially when you realize that the Mors Longa dev team are the same dev team who made "Forgotten".
