Is there a way to remove time limits?
It's not good game design and it turns what should be a fun game into a chore.

I think the developers want you to buy the game and have fun with it, no matter how you will have fun. So let me give you this:

1.) Open the Steam\steamapps\common\Teardown\data\script\heist.lua file in any editor
2.) Change line 20 which looks like this: SetFloat("level.alarmtimer", 60) - Replace the 60 seconds with any amount of seconds you like for the heist missions.

Have fun!

I prefer this to outright deleting files that remove the alarms. This way you can increase the time limit to something more generous but still make it short enough that you still need to get everything set up and it won't make the game boring.

You can disable the alarms in the games files which prevents the time limit from appearing. It's what I've done as I have a strong dislike for speed running games but absolutely love physics ones, best compromise imo.

I can't say where these files are exactly as I'm not at my computer right now

I definitely feel the time limits should be reworked. Some levels I can plan, some with optional objectives I don't think are possible (or I don't have the equipment to do) without exploiting the game in some way.

That works. I'm assuming this will also work on the fire alarms as well. That would make the dock and the warehouse sections where you retrieve paintings slightly easier. :steamhappy:

C:\steam\steamapps\common\Teardown\data\script

This thread is ridiculous. This was a great decision especially since the core game was built upon the premise of each level being a puzzle that gets more difficult with progression and increases the sense of accomplishment when you beat the level.

Agreed. What is the point of this game if there is no challenge? I think many buyers missed that this is a puzzle game.

That being said, I think that there should be difficulty levels that change the time given after the alarm goes off.

Yes, this game need some difficulty leves bad. Example, HARD, 60sec, MEDIUM, 90, EASY, 120, Baby, 150. Then there would be some challenge, but not owerwhelming. :)

Fun.
There's other ways of having fun besides challenge, and there's other ways of doing "challenge" besides timers. Some people like timers, some don't.
I enjoy this game way more as a physics sandbox than I do as a puzzle game.

bruh lmao

some people just have no patience and absolutely no desire to put any effort in anything they do
Drakiar 1 NOV 2020 a las 1:19
GroovyBum, your arrogance...

I am severely handicapped and since finding out there's a timelimit it's a dealbreaker for me. I don't deserve to enjoy the game because i want to play it not 100% intended? Put effort in? I put more effort in JUST DAM* BREATHING than you ever will your entire existance! BRUH LMAO! That hubris man, ignorance to other ppls circumstances!

BTW i wrote this with an overlay keyboard(meaning i type with MOUSE), that's how restricted i am.

Edit: I hope the Devs give us the ability to play on Win 7, they don't NEED to since requirements say Win 10. Would be very appreciated! + a difficulty setting.

You didn't say this in first instance at all, that is not ignorance dude. How dare you even ...

The game obviously is meant to be challening. Saying it's bad game design is a totally unnecessary middle finger to, imho, one of the most creative and fun games ever made. It's a game that rewards patience and effort.

Being handicapped is something you should have started with. It's not an argument to flame a game without using the whole argument in the first place. :)

It didn't occur to me trying to change the alarm in the game files. But thanks to you, I managed to find the required file, and changed a few values.

Who says you can't be a smooth criminal, with the technical knowhow to disable alarms.
SoeldnerJack 1 NOV 2020 a las 2:27
I can understand why people dont want a time limit. I am also not a big fan of it. We have no way to disable at least some of them.
The most fun mission for me was the one with the safes that have an water alarm. With planned destruction and use of the vehicles you could get all safes in one location and win this mission with over 50 sec left on the timer if you do it correctly.
It would be more fun to have a mix of missions. Some with simple destruction, some with puzzles and some with challenges (like the driving a lap).
Maybe there should be more interesting alarm systems. Lets say doors, windows and/or walls are monitored and if you destroy it the alarm goes off, but maybe the roof is unsecured so you have to find a way to get on the roof for this mission.
It would even be challenging if you had to destroy a buillding without damaging the surrounding to much.
An why does the game has a health system if it not really used. Electric fences, booby traps and so on that could be a threat to the players life and you would have to use different approaches on a mission.
A good mix of mission types and everyone will be happy at the end of the day.

It's still Early Access, so I think some of your ideas may very well be in the final game.
