Armored Core vs daemon x machina
Short Info.
AC :
-On a PS2/1 game the story already could have MULTIPLE choices , for example making the enemy mech butts explode if they were enemies.
-Had serious story with interesting characters.
-The progress made sense.

dm:
-Linear as **** story and predictable.Killing NOT ALLOWED because killing is "baaaaad".
-Trash story with VERY garbage characters , no idea who wrote this and thought was "interesting".
-The progress is **** , "faction" important people taking E , YES , E rank missions , LOL.
-The "body modifications" is , again , ****.
-Will not be surprised if they add Battle Royale to catch more little babies attention.
-Also somehow on every mission the idiot protagonist that NEVER talks or makes choices the most important and "secret" ♥♥♥♥ happens , LOL.

And the ending is as pathetic as expected.

What? ACs 1-4 all had multiple endings the outlier is 5 which is linear as F but the design choices are wonky as F, ACV made missions similar to classic AC 1-3 while VD went for shorter wave skirmishes ala AC4, and the stories are all grimderp not to the extent of Dark Souls or King's Field but its still grimderp. DxM is basically lighter and softer AC at least the corportations know when to call it quits unlike the AC verse where they all go END ALL HUMANITY BRRRRRRTTTTTTT

Armored Core didn't get multiple endings until Last Raven, the final installment for PS2. Armored Core 1, Project Phantasma, Master of Arena, 2, Another Age, 3, Silent Line, Nexus, and Nine Breaker all had just one ending. Armored Core 4 had one ending, but its direct sequel, For Answer and multiple endings. Formula Front could arguably have multiple endings, so I'll give you that.
Source: I've beaten all these games multiple times over except 5 and VD

From Software hasn't made a game with a decent Story in the last 14 years.

Not that it matters, as long as they continue to deliver challenging entrys with top notch gameplay.

At least for me.

I'm just happy I get to fly around in a Mec at high speed again, in this game.
Armored Core is more of a “hardcore” experience, most of the time in AC games it feels like you are driving a truck rather than piloting a mecha.

Like you feeeel that your mecha DOES weight like 9 tonns, its very noticable.

Some ppl like “that” as its kind of more realistic.

Simply put Daemon x Mecha is like going from driving a slammed 240sx into a lifted F150 truck in Armored Core. Best way i can explain the experience.

Until you play AC4 and 4 Answer which use NEXTs and not normal Armored Cores... using Primal Armor similar to Femto Energy in DXM. They have short range instantaneous boosting that might as well be short-range warping, which I hear is also in DXM.

I actually feel slower right now in DXM than I did in AC4, but I haven't had time to find parts and see what higher speed parts are like.

I don't think AC's stories were very good, if only on the fact that they are barely fleshed out. The concepts they all had were interesting but the story is so disconnected from the gameplay, mostly happens in the background, and even if you read through all of the messages and mission briefings there's not much really revealed to the player. I liked the themes but wanted more substance.

DXM on the other hand has me not caring about any of the characters or story. It just gets worse as I go along.

ohh right sadly I didnt play AC post Master of Arena... right right Last Raven has 2-3 endings... PP ended with you destroying phantasma

also Stories has never been AC's strongest point it just follows "themes" of space race or destroying humanity

Honestly, I dont understand why people are looking for story in these kind of games. I played every AC on PS2 including those with + content editions, I beat AC2 nearly completed other ones. And I swear to GOD I cant for the life of me remember what the story was even about at this point, nor did i pay attention back then

See, I was a Front Mission fan for the longest time and discovery of AC brough me into action sphere, but knowing my FM story standard i did not even attempt to care about AC story, it was just a deathmatch to me.

Same as Daemon x Machina, it has as much of story substance as Segai Kagura games, but thats fine. Bc its not the goal of the game, its not an rpg so goals are different.
Just my 5c

Honestly, if you're playing games like this for even an iota of story based content, you're playing the wrong games. Armored Core has cluttered as all hell lore at best, with sequel titles being the only sort of story we get. (AC2 > AC2AA, AC4 > ACfA,etc)

It's also funny you mention anything about the protagonist in this game when our protagonists in every AC game don't even talk ever...

The story wouldn't be so grating if it wasn't CONSTANTLY shoved in your face with hilariously bad cut scene after hilariously bad cut scene. No joke, I think I spent for time in cutscenes and "briefing" than in the actual missions on my first run.

Senran Kagura games has stories in them just not the ones made for the Vita that made into steam the 3DS games lore stuff is heavy AF but the Vita games are pretty much the xtreme beach volleyball of DoA who needs stories when you can have fanservice heh

Armored core definitely better. but this is a good game too better than NGB
pipo monkey Nov 14, 2020 @ 1:27pm
i do agree that armored core had a better story (especially nexus and last raven) than daemon x machina but they're still both fun games so i don't see the issue. body mods is just this games version of h+ and op-intensify. customization isn't as deep in this game but actual gameplay is still an absolute blast and what id want from an armored core spiritual successor. while ive only been a fan of armored core for the past 7 months and dont have the years experience that other people do, ive played all the ps1/ps2 games at least once and have played some upwards of 3 times so i think i have a say on comparing daemon to those games.
