Either that or mp is indeed dead.
1. There is no anti-cheat, murdering pvp right there.
2. Once you have the parts you want, there is no motivation to continue playing Multiplayer.
3. The game came out on Switch, a high market share console, in 2019 and the PC port has no substantial additions over that version. We got everything released for the Switch, but nothing fresh that I'm aware of.
Because of 1, there essentially is no PvP scene. Because of 2, most players don't need a huge amount of time hunting for parts or slot expanders for them. (This can be seen as a plus, since it means the grind isn't insane. Looking at you Monster Hunter gems.) Because of 3, a large chunk of potential repeat buyers don't see a reason to do so, cutting into potential player base.
End of the day: While I have found games semi-regularly, there isn't a plethora of people on at any given time. Your best bet is finding someone and friending them to know when they are on. A feature done through via Steam's system. You could add me for example, and I'd gladly hunt stuff with you since I'm not fully geared. (and I don't have a single build to rule them all, so I likely need/want many more parts than most players.)
well, stable fps and crisp resolution is for some people, but ymmv.
As for PC thing overall, i'd say it has advantage of being "we waited for this game for many many years, especially on pc that lacks such games", but not enough, i guess.
Yes this game can hugely benefit from some more content.
Opening it up to modders is one way, though given the community's size, I doubt that'll be very effective.
I iterate again, I do love this game, but it's just not a 60 dollar value game. Even smaller, free MMOs have more content.
Please, don't give up on this gem, give us more, more content, raid bosses, events, something... MHW is doing it right.
2. There are two steam groups with with ppl to help in coop usually or even for pvp

I've tried, on a holiday, to find rooms in my own region during daytime -- as expected, nobody on. Tried switching Steam download region to a part of the world which is a high population center, and around 6pm ~ 12am timezone -- and yes, there were a few rooms which previously did not show up.
As it is, a regional separation of players, in a game which is already has niche audience, is the single largest factor that is killing the multiplayer.
A very comparable game would be the Earth Defense Force series -- around similar number of members in both their sub-reddit. Both games are obscure to most of the public, and yet have small number of dedicated fans.
However, EDF5 features an in-game lobby system where you can view other rooms being played, as well as does not separate regions. The end result is EDF5 always has plenty of rooms which you can join to, almost no worries of MP drying up -- whereas in contrast, DXM clearly has problems.
I can't imagine what the devs were thinking with this pricing. I'm not paying AAA+ prices for a game I've never heard of from a dev I've never heard of with dead multiplayer, no matter how much I like 'mechs. Doesn't help that the graphics definitely make it look like an indie title.
I wishlisted this with the intention of picking it up when the people in charge of pricing came to their senses, but after seeing that there's no anti-cheat and the multiplayer is borked, all due to poor developer decisions, I hit "ignore" for both the game and the dev. Thanks, steam community!
Would it be possible for you to send the group links again? I'd like to find some folks to play coop/pvp with and it says the links are no longer valid
