Free missions are replayable at any time, and story missions become replayable after you finish the story.
So no, you can actually play and grind original single-player content offline.
Exploration and co-op missions, while technically solo-able, are not exactly single-player content, they're multiplayer content.
But I agree it's unfortunate that you can't grind dungeons offline, and in say 10 years when servers are shut down, this part of the game will just disappear.
Unless someone release private servers or hacks to enable it.
The Co-op missions and exploration mode aren't server side, the game uses peer to peer connection between players and with no server check (which instead happens with dark souls 2). To add insult to the injury, the game just checks if steam is in online or offline mode, in the second case the game doesn't allow you to play those two modes, WHICH IS VERY RETARDED, since they don't truly require internet to function at all, BS which can be bypassed with not so legit ways.
I have already stated in the features thread to allows us to play both modes in offline mode, as the switch version already allows that.
According to reddit nope, as long you play in local mode:
EDIT: Added the source, which you can access from here https://www.reddit.com/r/DaemonXMachina/comments/etwq0w/is_it_offline/
If you mean on steam you actually can't. If you mean on the switch I don't know, as I don't own one (try to ask in that thread in case).
Mandatory online requirements for singleplayer games like this are horrible.
I don't understand why that they FORCED online auth on the steam version, which is really stupid. The game basically checks if steam is in online mode and if the game can access internet, but it doesn't actually access to anything, so this is barrier is unneeded.
There is honestly no reason to do it, especially if "non-steam version" bypasses that restriction.
I completely agree with you, which is the reason for which I still can't digest this and I really hope they will fix this. Chances are low, but meh, let's hope for the better.
