Also, "casual Armored Core" isn't much of an insult when most of the competition can't even live up to that low bar. None of the mech games out there for PC are that detailed. If they are, they usually suffer from shallow content.
Well that is a fair point. My problem is it did not slake my thirst for a new AC game, only renewed it, while also not measuring up to that admittedly high bar. And yah there isn't much competition in mech action games. Mech strategy games however are in a cool place with Battletech now and Phoenix Brigade coming. Also if MW5 ever updated to have melee attacks it would be the best mech game. But this is Japanese mecha we are supposed to be talking about so I guess its kind of apples and oranges. What with anything mechwarrior being big stompy western bots and not that comparable to Japanese bots that can booster skate. Damnit I want a new AC game, or just good mech action game. Why did front mission evolved have to suck? DXM was good and all, but it just wasn't any AC that's for sure.
This would be me if I hadn't already got my fill of it on switch tho.
It's a win for me.
These sorts of games have never reviewed as well as they should in the west.
I still think this is worth my money though, and so I bought it. Didn't live up to my initial expectations, but it's not exactly bad, and different enough from AC.
I for one blame Dark Souls. I want my robots back
I looked forward to it, in a "scratching that mecha itch" and "mission based gameplay could be like the Battle Universe franchise on PSP" way. But it disappointed in both ways. It wasn't as deep as an AC game, and wasn't as good as the arcade Gundam PSP games.
Awfully mediocre with weird design decisions, cluttered UI, a terrible story and worse cliché characters.
I'm not surprised it bombed. I hope it sells well enough for them to have a second try though. Not many new mech games out these days. Maybe FROM will remember that they own the AC IP tho, who knows?
