When I start this game, the VR system starts and the sounds is sent to the VR headset. Why?

I broke the glass by the Exit Door BUT there is NO KEY there to pick up.

This fascinated me. I was hoping to get in there, and tried to remove keys from doors to see if I could then unlock it but no joy. Did anyone get in this or have any info on it?
