Carriers at War

Does this game have anything to do with Carriers at War, I don't think so, but there are screen shots of both games in the Artwork here.

Nothing to do with CAW other than the topic and somewhat scale.
I do wish the ARTWORK from CAW was NOT in the Community Hub for Carriers at War 4.

They should not be there, it can confuse people, I have both games so I know

Same here. the Devs should rectify this.
I have the ORIGINAL Apple version, as Complete Carriers at War with approx. 30 scenarios. NOT just the 6 in the 'UPDATED' VERSION'. Apart from some bugginess still in CV 4, I do prefer it to the OLDER title.
Big issue I have with CV4..is only 2 search ability from any 1 launch platform, I do like its functionality, just wish one is not stuck with just the 2. I'm OK with 2 STRIKE per platform. Also would like to have a clearer view of any ONE search pattern, not as ALL patterns with 4 different colors. I'm OK with 2 STRIKE per platform.

Why do yo call it CV 4? (Carrier Battles 4 Guadalcanal) that's not what this game is (CB 4 maybe)

I think the search plan functionality hurts this game the most, including them not being represented on the map as icons.

I have Carriers of War the 6 scenario version , how would I go about getting the other scenario's for the PC? Thanks

I still enjoy Carriers at War from 2007 ("6 scenario version") to this day and mine has 18 scenarios, including Japanese attack on Ceylon, Plan Orange, an invasion of Hawaii, and more. Try downloading the user made mega scenario pack: https://www.alternatewars.com/Games/CAW/CAW_Mods.htm

I miss Operation Olympus. Looking back I don't think it's that fun but it does have a Kamikaze option. I don't think that is possible in the 2007 version but I could be wrong. Oh, I also own Complete Carriers at War. It doesn't get played anymore though.

I got the 'Complete Carries at War' in 2005. The original game was produced by STRATEGIC STUDIES GROUP for Apple 2 and Commodore 64 only. 3 remakes later is the CD's I got dating from 1996. The game I own is the same basis for the title MATRIX got as a PC version in 2007; it is NOT the same game.You probably have the 2007, 6-7 scenario one. (much improved graphics). They have YET to produce the 20+ additional scenarios that I enjoy (including USS Nimitz vz. IJN Pearl Harbor Strike Force...lol). Hence I will NOT purchase that one.

I believe my game can only play on an OLD Mac machine (I still keep my Mac OS 10 LION with an OS 9 app to revert to such old codeing), to enable me to play with 256 graphics and alot of resetting the screen resolution. Also on a DOS=PC platform.

I did some research, and found a few links but only for DOS PC....

You may wish to consider appealing to Matrix or Steam, to get the devs to buy the rights to the expanded scenarios, and make them available for everyone who knows that the original game had tremendous applause in it's day, and of being an excellent title with a great AI.
If you do so with success, then I WOULD buy it. Keep me informed.

The CAW screenshots are being posted by a gamer, not the developer of CB4. Ask the individual to remove them. I don't understand the rational for him to post them here unless he works for Slitherine.

The Developer should do that through Steam, it looks like for someone that doesn't know that they are screen shots for this game. Depends on which side the rational is coming from, they should not be there.

Thanks for the heads up about the scenario mod for CAW, Technopiper. I downloaded it with no problems. I prefer this game, but one feature I like better with CAW are the battles with the ship silhouettes, looks better and you have more control over the surface action.

I have these scenarios too. There are a lot of variants for some scenarios which give it good replayability

The copy of Complete Carriers at War that I mention above (made for Mac & DOS) had MORE scenarios than those in the CAW mods (made for the 2007 upgrade). I tell you probably 30 scenarios in the 1996 original version, so as to populate with the Western Theater . Scenarios in the North Sea and Atlantic. Scenarios in the Med. Even the Indian Ocean.
Wish they had added ALL of them to the 2007 remake for the 'modern computers'.

I am waiting for someone to publish DLC for CaW 2007 too. The Australian designer passed away some years ago unfortunately and the prospect doesn't look good.
