why cant I use a bow to shoot?

I equip the bow and try to shoot something and my character runs up to the enemy and smacks em with the bow in melee....played the previous game didnt remember equipping and using bows being this asinine.....I'm trying to equip arrows but nothing happens, do you need another item like a quiver to be able to fire the bow?

ok found a quiver on a goblin...so I guess that was the issue. you need a bow AND a quiver to shoot the bow.

Dont forget to get more arrows from the materials vendor to refill your quiver
