It's true that without a deadline the only benefits are the pleasure of solving the puzzle for its own sake and building a better fighter faster that can win more fights first time. The game does keep track of the number of days passed and you can see that as a rough score for your own efficiency,
I´ve finally got over the breakpoint and now I start to quite enjoy the game...so far.
I don´t rush, becuse adversaries WILL beat your ass if you try to hurry up "underleveled" with various skills (Double Inhale is really awesome).
So I tend to play it as sim with no rush at all.
For the record you absolutely can be sufficiently levelled to win every fight first time, without being underlevelled, if you manage your time and resources well. That's a valid way to play too.
you'll start using bus and ready to eat food more there, same thing with the neurotrainer, since you are more scraped for time rather than money
