Gekko station hopper
I've stripped the ship of everything down to the main frame which needs to go to the furnace. I don't care to cut it all up, but it's too heavy to drag to the furnace with max tethers.

My final option seems to be to turn the job in unfinished. Any thoughts or suggestions?

indeed, those are the only two options. Scrap the ship and start a new one or cut it up into about 7,000kg chunks.
Scrap the job then. It will take too long to cut it up.

Thanks.
you know how to switch between pinpoint and slicer of the cutting tool?
You only need to cut it up into chunks that have mass less than 20,000kg. At that point, they're under the tether movement restriction. (things move slower and slower the closer you get to 20,000kg. Intentional design decision, to encourage you to cut stuff up)
Yes, I know about the different cutting modes. It's just not worth my time to cut it up, at least at this time. I'm not in the mood for all that cutting at this time. Maybe next time.

No worries, mate. No offense intended

I did saw a video on youtube, where a fella put a ton of demolition charges on the side of the aluminum frame, one next to the other and when he triggered the explosion, it sent the entire hulk into the furnace. I've never tried this though, and don't know how it works in regards to the 20,000kg limit Tacovacs mentioned.
I took no offense, so you're fine.

The bigger ships I tend to cut into three sections to throw them into the furnace. That's just my completionist mind though.
I usually cut the station hopper into sections anyway, because it's much faster to gut the interior that way. Get everything out of the stern "cubes", then cut them off and out of the way, and you have a huge hole to toss stuff out of. Bonus if you can get the whole thing to rotate so you just have to punch stuff out the hole and straight into the barge.
