Dumbest thing I read in a while.
"BuT iT RuInS tHe ImMeRsIoN!!1!"
So does not getting set on fire when you accidentally drift into the furnace, but no one's advocating for that game feature...
"I suffered, so others have to suffer too".
Note: as a fellow glasses-wearer, there's a difference between the semi-tunnel vision presented by first-person games and how our IRL vision works, so wider FOVs are mainly there to prevent the brain from going "EW, WHY THIS NOT LOOK LIKE EYES". In my cause, I just don't like getting headaches or nausea while playing games.
People should not have to suffer headaches and migraines from trying to play a game, or abandon/avoid/refund said game, just because the devs won't implement basic features that they previously promised.
Your ridiculous argument for verisimilitude holds absolutely no water.
the way humans see is yes a pretty wide field. but it is by no means all usable. 75-90 fov in a game is just right. anyone wanting more just want to use it to cheat in shooter games and since they trained themselves to see that they don't like not seeing it in other games..
i myself don't even have that much field of view. but in the end all i see are a bunch of brats asking for something that isn't even a problem. no to mention high fov would give one motion sickness.. not low
Suddenly all that supposed care for realism is thrown under the bus. Just a videogame bro, stop asking for more realism that is unreasonable. (But you just know they will be back to scream how unfair and realism breaking it is that sparks are not traveling 20 feet to set things on fire across the room)
God, imagine how many more games would be better if realism and immersion honestly mattered, instead of only being trotted out to try and put a PR spin on inconvenience, and swiftly forgotten if more realism would be beneficial.
As a lifelong glasses wearer, you have no idea how eyes work.
Wow, could you be more of jackass. "Just because I don't have a problem it doesn't exist" This is a single player game, why does it even matter to you!
Also, its obvious you don't know what your talking about because low FOV is what causes my motion sickness and I've never had it from high.
If your worried about immersion then you don't have to use the FOV slider but there are a large enough portion of people that suffer from nausea and headaches from games like this (myself included) that it is ridiculous that FOV sliders aren't a standard feature in all games like this by now. The only option I have with low fov games are to take Dramamine to be able to play them, which puts me to sleep so I can barely enjoy gaming like that, and even that doesn't work all the time.
Why the hell not!? Who's gonna be pissed if you do?
