I've heard you can't pay off all your debts.
Is this true?

Iv'e done it but I was playing on the xbox app. Apparently you are supposed to get a message that makes you go back in dept or something but I've never seen it.

Did you earn all the money to pay off the debt, or did the game handwave away the $1b you initially owed? The second is not the same as the first.

I'm actually curious about this too. I played on PC but I was using the Xbox game pass. I was well into the green when I got to that story point but it could be a difference of Steam vs Xbox pc...

Have you tried since version 1.0 came out? That's what I did it on.

You can absolutely pay it off. The storyline does forgive the debt, but if you don't do the triggering mission, which shows up as being fairly obvious, then you can pay it off just fine

I was about halfway to paying off the debt when I did the final job, which put me in the positive. However, the game only clears about a billion in debt, so no doubt its still possible to be in debt when you do the final job. I don't see why this matters, though...

Because you didn't pay off the debt, the game handwaved it away and left you with what you'd earned from cutting. You didn't get paid $1b from Industrial Action, the debt was just forgiven without having paid it back. That's why it matters.

No, because you need Lynx tokens to rank up, and you're earning money while getting them.

oh dude, no... I love the story in this game, and even within the story, that debt wasn't real, which is why at the end, the game waves away a billion in debt. That debt is very much not real within the story -- it is just another form of control exerted by LYNX on its employees. I know a lot of people complain about the story in this game, but I personally love it; it is so darn accurate to both past and current events.
