Suit Patch Kits
Why can't I buy a suit patch kit on site at the kiosk during work? My suit is down to two red and two yellow bars with what looks like a lot of scope for more yellow bars to be filled. I've got the money and the item is not greyed out, yet when i click on the item to purchase it, as one does with Oxygen, for example, there's just a pathetic beep. Can anyone please tell me why I can't buy more Patch Kits to boost my suit stability?

I suspect that the two yellow bars represent full suit health, but the length of that gauge/bar implies there's scope for more yellow bars. However, this is the only reason I can think of for not being able to buy more. Simply because I don't need any and we are clearly not supposed/required to store extras anywhere, otherwise there'd be an inventory somewhere or some such.

This kind of sucks too because it means when you find spare suit repair kits on board you have to sacrifice them in order to fulfil your salvage quota rather than save money and be able to store them somewhere against future needs. I guess, though, that this fits in with the general philosophy of Lynx Corporation to create as many instances where Shipbreakers have to spend money with them, rather than avoid spending money with them by hoarding useful items.

It's just how the integrity gauge works. It's not relative to your current 100% , but absolute. You get more bars when you upgrade your suit.

IIRC the red bars is where the suit starts leaking. 2 red left = still ok, 1 red left = you're leaking O2 and better go fix it ASAP, nothing left = you'll be pretty much dead in seconds.

Ah, I get it now. I have noticed since submitting my question that following a "mishap" my suit gauge did drop into the red and I was then able to buy a suit patch which had the effect of restoring the meter to two red and two yellow bars. I then once again couldn't buy any more than the one patch, because there was no damage remaining to repair. So it seems clear that, at any time, two yellow bars represents optimal condition for the suit.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, Nellvan. I do appreciate it.
