See, the key problem is that Venators are big. Hardspace is already limited by it's engine in how big a ship you can dismantle (and gameplay wise, dismanteling a Venator on your own would take weeks).
If you gave this game a Star Wars Skin, about the biggest thing you might feasibly be able to dismantly would be the Millenium Falcon. Maybe not even that.
You would have to build it in an engine that could handle it. And maybe you would cut large and then focus on scrapping smaller parts etc. You see how the droids cuts of parts of the ship and move it elsewhere for scrappers to work on smaller bits. And you might not play as a solo guy flying around. I think they could find a neat concept that works for SW. For me Im also intrigued at watching the events of this time from a different perspective. :)
I was thinking about the same thing - but I wonder if they could retrofit the engine to accommodate working in superstructures? So you have vast interiors that aren't entirely destructible while you work on specific parts - like the reactor, or parts inside of bays.
