Honestly, the doors are like 2k each iirc (give or take a few hundred), and just getting a refill for air is way more. Completion value is based on cost, not mass, so if you don't mind the occasional error messages of doors being burnt, you can just ignore then.
It's weird, the door mechanisms pay well, but the doors themselves are considered near garbage by game mechanic logic.
the fact that air lock doors retract the moment both sides have the same pressure means you can't at any point get every door cut on some ships
It is clear the doors aren't that important, or the dev team would have put more work into it like putting in Manual Overrides, the ability to pop them out with your grapple, having higher values, etc.
One split saw cut across the bottom or top is the fastest way, that does the least amount of $$ damage.
Dont work AGAINST the cleaner, work WITH the Cleaner ^_^
It just irks me that I can't get 100%
Btw, I still have the lvl1 cutter. I'm not that far into the game yet.
Speaking of the cutter, I think I don't fully understand how it works. I just noticed that the dotted outline will shift depending on where I'm looking.
I had an issue that cuts aren't very precise. And every ship I encountered thus-far could be fully accessed/dismantled by cutting the cutting points.
That most recent ship I did though, seemed to have inaccessible compartments, and required me to cut out a panel
The issue I have there (which also occurs anytime I have to cut out the cockpit glass, is that the cut is very crude, and doesn't seem to go exactly where I clicked, and doesn't seem to cut everything either.
Anyway, you guys seem to know a lot of the details, so I just thought I'd mention this
But it looks like you're supposed to identify the pieces that are worth it (in terms of money/time) and leave the rest in the yard. (interesting that there is no penalty for leaving a bunch of debris in the yard and just saying "screw it, I'm doing a new ship, ok? bye")
If the door is shut (and cutting wont cause a decompression) they are really easy to remove in a single cut. Look for a black or darker paint bar along the bottom of the door (different door designs but they all have a stripe of darker colour) use the split saw along this paint line and the door will just pop out in two intact pieces.
Its my personal Goal to always be above 98%, depending on Ship and how precise i work, i can reach above 99%.
Some pieces are connected in a way, that it is impossible to reach a clear 100%.
Like Aluminium-plate connected to NC-Ring. So you either abandon the plate or you try to cut it off with the least amount of destroyed material - thats your decision.
LYNX dont cares if you salvage 50% or 99%, they still make profit. Your own urge to get Lynx Coins for Upgrades and Money to reduce Debt, are your Motivation to salvage as much as possible ;)
First make a vertical split saw cut along the very edge of the middle section of the wall panel which is covering the door, nearest the opening, A small part of the door should then be exposed.
Make a second cut in the same way, but this time on the door itself. The entire door should come flying off. No damage is counted to either the wall or door.
Enjoy your ~600 credits.
