Javelin Middle Fuel Tank - How to Get It Out?
Tried demo charges, so far resulted in BOOM when I've tried it, but I've only got basic charges... Of course all the cut points around it are class 3's too and no where enough cooling tanks etc spawn to cut enough stuff out to free it...

If its the one I'm thinking of, I just carefully cut around the aluminium inner frame, once the pipes haves been purged with the lever at the front you can cut them, then tether it to the hab to pull it out, then down into the barge.

Tried that, but it bugged out on me and the fuel distro part didn't come the tank nor does the fuel clamp pop free >_<

And then caught fire when I tried to cut off the bloody distributor.

Right, 3rd go for the 3rd time. Let it not bug out.

It isn't worth that much, like 140k I think and it always blows up. I just send the whole assembly to the processor to save on time lol.

lawl, bugged out again, was cutting the fuel clamp and the tank exploded on me ;-;

Finally got the tank out! And didn't blow anything up (yet). Because decompression explosions are $FUN$.

How to do it:

1) Flush the fuel lines out.

2) Cut the pipes off the fuel distro then cut the distro off the fuel tank and extract asap because it will probably catch fire.

3) After decompression the compartments of the Javelin then destroy the all aluminium bits connected to the 3 level cut parts.

4) Once you can pull the front away (either with strong tethers of cut up and salvage the front section) you can then pull the cage forwards with 2 tethers and use one tether to the rear of the fuel tank and it should pull free.

Alternative is to use the small coolant tanks in the ECS to freeze up the 3 level cut points (after you've pulled the reactor of course) to make you able to cut them. This will prove more space to pull the tank out with only separating sections a bit.

If you feel, that you dont have the right equipment and skills for parts of the Job, ignore that part for the moment and send it to the Place with higher value. Barge-salvage is most times the place for the high-value parts, Processor is 2nd, Furnace 3rd.
I know what kind of Tank you mean and i would say that the unseparated Block of Tank/pipes + structure around it, can go into Barge. At the Beginning of being a Breaker, your Skills arent great, so you cant do as you want. Instead, do what you *can* do :)

Avoiding explosions when cutting is something I'm still getting used to... Especially when working against the clock.

- Always try to aim the cutter away from explosives / flammable items.
- The stinger cutter throws up sparks that seem able to set fire on soft furnishings, be aware of where the sparks are flying.
- The splitsaw crosshair is important, if the dots or the red lines of the crosshair extend into something you don't want to hit, reposition.
- Always consider what's behind the surface you're cutting, in both modes. Try to make sure the cutter cuts though to either empty space or some kind of cut resistant material.

Remember, you just have to hit the cut point to melt it, you don't actually have to aim to cut through it.

This doesn't happen in my plays. When I flush the fuel and try to cut the cut points adjacent to the fuel node, it catches fire and everything explodes.

I've discovered that in MOST cases, the cost of the aluminum frames, walls, and floors pales in comparison to the nanocarbon cost or the barge salvage. Just cut away the frame as much as you feel safe doing, and pitch the whole tank into the barge. You can do this with the nanocarbon ribbing around the aluminum spine of tankers, too. You'll lose out on the aluminum, but it's pennies in comparison. See also; the cockpit 'tunnel' of a Gecko, just cut it away from the main ship, detatch it from the the nanocarbon bulkhead, and barge it all.

Shortcuts like this will lose you a very small amount of salvage (on the order of 2%) but is much faster and safer. Especially fuel tanks.

As much fun as it is to use, the splitsaw is rarely pulled out in my sessions. Everyone knows that you can melt the aluminium frame parts with the stinger right? It just takes a few seconds and the whole piece melts and disappears, including the entirety of the octagonal frames around the fuel tank. Flush it, stinger the pipe corner to free the pipe from the tank, stinger one of the octagonal frame sides then pull the tank out that side by one of the ends. It will turn just enough to pull it through where the frame was. Go slow and careful with your stinger aim until you have the process down.

Can you record an instance of this happening and upload it to youtube? https://obsproject.com/
