XBox controller not recognized
Been playing Shipbreaker with an XBox wireless controller for months without an issue then SB stopped recognizing it... nothing. Works fine with test software and PC pairs it normally. This happened prior to the recent update, and has continued after the update. Is there a fix or remove/reinstall option? TIA

Different types of Xbox controllers work for me in-game (wired and wireless), but either one or both pre-game menus won't respond to it. The input system is definitely wonky.

Thanks... The aggravation comes from having used the controller flawlessly for months, then BANG! SB doesn't even see it, but the test software checks normal... the problem is clearly with Shipbreaker.... The solution seems to be remove and reinastall, but unable to fine guidance on how to do that without losing the money for the game...

I found the save files in Users/<my user>/AppData/LocalLow/Blackbird Interactive/Hardspace_Shipbreaker/. Inside the Saves folder are two files with backups. I'd try backing up both, then move either and see what difference it makes.

The latest patch made it so NO controllers work for me anymore. No response from Xbox controllers or HOTAS devices.

Hello, you have to unplug your Hotas as the game can't detect any controllers if a game peripheral is already connected.

That's absurd. If I don't have any controllers attached, how can it detect controllers? ;)

I know Unity supports a large number if simultaneous controllers (easily more than you should have), so they need to include a way to pick default controllers from a dropdown list, and fix the detection in general. It still sometimes doesn't work in menus.

i also have the problem with the xbox controller. all other games work well but not shipbreaker. please fix this issue.

Yup, for awhile, it's worked if I click off the screen for some reason, but now it doesn't recognize the controller at all. Steam recognizes it, other Steam games recognize it... I even got a newer Xbox controller in case my old wired one was the issue, but that didn't work either.

UPDATE: I unplugged my Saitek X52 and now it works... I guess the HOTAS was interfering after all!

Talking of controllers, a disable option would be nice. When mine is plugged the mouse no longer works in menus.

good to know that im not the only one picking up my controller to play and going "what is happening"
i thought it was a fluke because i don't have a microsoft brand controller (got one with a turbo function) and had resigned myself to either not playing, or maybe trying to set up the steam controller...but since its more than just me, i hope the issue is resolved at some point soon.

After giving up on the situation to play CIV 6, I came back and discovered that I had HOTAS system installed. Removed the HOTAS and it seems to be working! WOW has SB grown up in six months! Thanks for the info!

I want to say thank you so much for this, I've been struggling trying to figure out why my controller wasn't working for the last day and a half and I saw this comment and it fixed my issue completely. For some reason unplugging the HOTAS never occurred to me. Thanks for helping me remedy this

3 years later and this was never fixed.
