New player: What goes where?
I feel like I missed a tutorial or something. I ended up figuring it out by trial and error, but I still don't know how to identify which materials need to go to the barge, which to the processor, and which to the furnace.

I went from "here's how to cut" to "we need X Nanocarbon and Y Titanium"
Took a chance and dropped the yellow/back hazard striped stuff in the processor, yup, that gets carbon. Dropped the flat, thin hull in, and it was rejected and my pay docked. Okay, try it in the furnace? That seemed to produce titanium.

But then I got to the tether tutorial, and I dropped the yellow/back hazard-striped hull plates into the processor, and it rejected it and I got a Game Over. I guess that was a nacelle that needed to go to the barge? But it looked the same as the other exterior hull plating?

How do you tell what is what? I feel like I missed something.

When you have a item highlighted or grappled the UI tells you upfront where the item goes along the bottom of the screen just above your fuel/oxygen metres.

You'll see along the bottom it says "Processor", to signify that what is currently highlighted goes into the processor.

Grapple overrides and will cause that element to always tell you where what you're actively grappling needs to go regardless to what you're looking at.

what am i doing Jun 25, 2020 @ 9:54pm
When you look at it up close it'll tell you where it goes. When you pick it up, the destination will also be targeted.

After you grab onto something with the grapple, or when you look at an object, look right above your health and fuel bar at the bottom of your screen. It'll tell you where objects go.

Furnace / Incinerator is the giant glowing orange door. The inner hull of the ship goes in here, AKA all the walls / floors / ceilings you cut out from the frame of the ship.

The Processor is the giant blue thing, most if not all of what you put in here is going to be stuff made of nanocarbon. This includes structural support beams, the outer plating of the ship, and some other bits.

The Barge is the giant green bit at the bottom. Switches, chairs, computers, engines, reactors, etc. etc. those go in there. Be gentle, everything that goes onto the barge is worth a lot of money.

Thanks. That's what I was missing.

The HUD is *WAY WAY WAAAAY* too cluttered and busy to hide that kind of information at the bottom of the screen, and I obviously missed seeing any kind of targeting marks too.

It's very stylish, I get it, and it fits the theme and style of the universe and all that, but holy crap that kind of critical info needs to be better displayed. Put it by the targeting reticle, or make it bigger, or flash or something, because as a new player I was completely lost.

Hidden... In plain sight.

Or... you know... Hidden the normal way. Because it's translucent and invisible.
