Pipes make no sense in this game
I was trying to collect ta waste disposal unit from a Gecko. There was a pipe leading from the unit back to itself, which I decided to remove. When I made my first cut, at one end, I discovered the pipe was in fact pressurised, and flammable liquid began to spill out. So I thought, no problem, at least it didn't ignite, and I waited for the pipe to run dry. When it finished, I made a cut at the other end of the pipe, and it exploded! The pipe should have been empty. I assume this behaviour is not intentional?

I wouldn't have made a cut in a pipe of sewage even if paid a million credits. I assume the devs used gas pipes to avoid needing to create another type of pipe.

But you don't need to cut them, you need to melt two little supports under each waste dispossal unit, and it will be movable along with the pipes.

Melting the plate is easier though.

It's an aluminium plate, not worth the time needed.

I think it'd be pretty cool, if incredibly unlikely, to get actual clouds of fluids/gases floating around inside the ship. As it stands, I don't really understand pipes either lol.

12 dollars per kg isnt expensive compared to nano which is 4x per kg give or take. i just toss any thats connected to nano in the processor with the nano. it isnt worth all the cutting. That is until you get certs specifically asking for aluminium.

Its because the "flammable liquid" is still in the environment. All you did was empty the liquid around you in empty space. Then you ignited it when you made another cut. I think it even warns you of this in a loading screen tip.

I still don't get how fuel from a single pipe burns in a vacuum. Unless the pipe is qctually two pipes one containing fuel and the other oxidiser.
One really big issue I have is things like chairs catching on fire in a vacuum do they pack the chair with oxidiser or something?

Yes. Don't remember which, but it was something about "be careful of cutting stuff in fuel contaminated environments".

No, for sure it wasn't. I had already peeled away most of the hull, so this took place in open vacuum, and I waited for the clouds to dissipate before I made the second cut. I suppose it's possible there were invisible clouds of the stuff kicking around, but that's hardly realistic if so -- gas dissipates extremely quickly in space.

could've been a bug? thing is i don't think you can even purge those pipes to begin with. you're suppose to process the whole thing as a single unit. underneath there is two yellow blocks you can vaporize.

You do know that there are small attachment points at the bottom of the WDU that once you pull it off the two pieces come apart and you can chunk them into the processor with no danger.

I now think that this is actually a bug. I saw another guy trigger a coolant explosion when he cut the link to an ECU at the end of a shift, despite having removed all the canisters at the start of it. Thanks to everyone who mentioned the cut points, I clearly missed them when I first encountered a waste disposal unit but I've learned.

99% chance it was because he hit the large panel behind the ECU when he was cutting the pipe. If you damage that panel in any way it causes a coolant explosion. It's the panel that blinds your scanner.

its a game not irl just think of it as a hazzard. in this universe they ♥♥♥♥ stuff that can explode in space! stop trying to be a rick when ur really a jerry
