Thing that irritate me with the Grappler logic and possible solution (regulate grappler lenght via mouse wheel)
Either I'm missing something, or the grappler lack option to pull object towards you without the player need to move with trusters.

The distance I grab object is (more or less) the distance you operate the object untill you grab it again.

This is especially irritating inside ships.

I'd love if it would be possible to "shorten/extend" the grappler leash distance with mouse wheel.

If you hold Right Mouse Button while grappled you will reel the object into you (or you towards it if it's too big). I'm not aware of a way to extend it again though.

thx - I didn't see it in tutorial - either I'm blind or tutorial omnited it.

Just be careful with it, especially on storage bins, crates of any kind and airlock/door controls.

I died once breaking my helmet due to smash stuff into my face.

But it can also save you, if you getting sucked into the processor or furnace. Grabble something big and reel in.

Yep you're missing something. Right click when tethered to reel in. Using the grapple reel can give you more speed than your thrusters alone can if you thether something heavier than you. I have smashed my helmet/ slammed myself into the ship many times with this so be careful with it.

I actually agree that having the reel on MMB would be better as how many times have you tethered something to itself when trying to reel.

but it can also be useful as a faster way to get to the hab & vendor to replenish supplies without using thrusters. just be mindful of your grab point on the jack, because you might end up spending more time and fuel if you grabbed a bad point to pull yourself to.

Also helps to use Z/X to put your hands out and soften your impact and keep you from flying past it.

I also missed the 'reel me in' thing. Glad I saw this!

The tutorial does not mention it, but yes, the reel in feature is handy. I found it by looking up the keybindings.

I think I saw it on a loading screen tip. For sure needs to be added to the tutorial as well as 'grabbing' items with your hands.

What really irritates me is that the "use/pickup" key is the same as the cut/boop. I've accidentily killed myself twice today when I tried to grab/use something and instead it cut or smashed delicate objects to explode in my face.

This frozen keybindings are also my enemy.
  • Using "F" for grabing things and also for pushing things away has made more accidents in my playing than all other mistakes i made together.
  • If you use a keyboard with a non-English key assignment its impossible to reasign some keys to your liking.
  • Using Left Controll for Braking, my little finger resents it.

Keybindings are on the schedule. As is the Fuse... anytime I see on the Gecko, I supercharge a boop and send it into Earth.
