Removing airlock from frame - Mackeral class
Any suggestions on how to get the airlock removed from the Mackeral frame? I try cutting it with the stripsaw but can never seem to get it dislodged, so I usually just end up throwing it in the furnace with the rest of the frame.

I also can't find any cut points.

Thanks.

The stripsaw can cut more than one bit at a time, just gotta get the 2 longer bars to cross over more than one bit. Only takes 2 or 3 cuts if you're lucky, some times dont even have to move.

Still just toss it all in the processor though. Not worth skinning that buffalo.

Sounds good in paper. Any experience in practice?
Well, I tried it twice. Both time it blew the airlock to bits beyond salvage.

I've found I can cut the beams and such and salvage most of the frame and airlock seperately with some loss, but not too bad.

Yeah I hadn't tried on the mackeral just the gecko, bad assumption on my part as I got the same results when I did try. (sometimes you loose the one square of nanocarbon directly attached on the gecko, most of the time you get the lot)
Unless you got the time. Can be fun to do it just for the satisfaction
i cut from inside of the airlock, then go outside and finish the cuts. sometimes needs a slice taking out near the support on the side.
Icut the top of the airlock off you have to make a second cut on the mackeral though as it sticks to the frame bar on the back
For the OUTER square airlock doors, you can use the stinger to disintegrate the thin frame around the door. It's four parts. Once those are gone the door is loose. If the door was open it will suddenly pop into existence as a closed door. Very quick and easy and worth doing IMHO.

For the INNER square airlock doors, you need to cut them out since there's no frame. Not a huge deal but I often won't bother.

For the taller interior doors, you need to cut all 8 panels that the door is set in. As someone already mentioned, you can cut multiple panels if you aim it right so it doesn't take THAT long.
