No they haven't.
1080p is still the baseline for most game-running setups in 2020.
WRONG.... BUT u are correct in the "most" part. now adays everyone wants to play games on their toasters or refrigerators.... but ya gamers have moved on to 4k. 1080.... was so 2005...
No gamers haven't, unless they opt for cheap alternatives. My 1080p monitor is still £450 today, even though its over 3 years old.
I know many people who play sims mostly and many have 1080p screens because they are in multi-monitor setups and decking out in higher resolutions more than triples the cost. Most typical gamers are not running cards that can render 4k at decent framerates (I'm talking 80-100+) or they likely cannot afford it. If you were to do a survey you would find only a very small percentage run 4k with most at 1440p and 1080p, still with bias to 1080p.
EDIT: Just looked up steam hardware survey from May 2020 and 1080p monitors as the primary display are 63% of the userbase. 1440p is 6% and 4k is only 2%.

So I'm afraid it is YOU who are wrong.
Yep, like posted above about 80% of steam users play 1080p or LOWER!
BTT: The devs said they want to adjust UI soon. I was hoping it happening before the weekend, so I can play the game. But it seems it will not happen this week.
if u paid 500 bucks for a 1080 monitor, i hope it was like 150hz and like 0 angle view glare and all that other extra ♥♥♥♥, cause sounds a bit like u got robbed.
i could go into alot of examples but just because a few ppl LARP as gamers does not mean gamers have cheap/♥♥♥♥ setups. ive been a GAMER since 96, and i have spent as much as i could into my rigs, with focus on cards. everyone and their brother has things that can play games....does not make them gamers. i even know ppl who have TRIED to go back to 1080 with all the new stuff around 1080 now, and the things u gain at 1080 do not replace what u lose with 4k. i mean 2k is apparently a good middle ground. fairly easy to run and looks much better. stop trying to use ur toaster/frig to also play games on. get a rig designed for playing games!
ppl love to link that survey with apparently zero understanding of it. how many ppl do u know that HAVE steam??? how many are GAMERS? i have probably gotten around 100 ppl to use steam, 5-10 of those were real gamers. playing games does not make u a gamer, just like playing sports does not make u a pro athelete....
Oh look, we got a "gamer" in here. Why do you set the standard for what a gamer is? `96? Amateur numbers! I can easily beat that, that would still not degrade you to a non- gamer in my view.
I know some hardcore gamers who are piss poor and run really old hardware and whenever they upgrade they make sure that they get the best bang for the buck. But I guess those are no gamers, as they do not have my fancy setups.
So, casual gamers are no gamers in your opinion, just casuals?
Hell, if people love playing games on mobiles, they would be gamers, too.
The cambridge dictionary defines a gamer as "somebody who likes playing computer games".
A gamer is not defined by how much they spend at computer stuff, but how much they enjoy playing.
I trust their definition more than yours :)
Well done for not understanding how data and surveys work. Just because YOU are an outlier to the data, and someone who uses higher resolutions, does NOT mean you are the example of the playerbase. You are not indicative of the playerbase and the prefferred setup. You are in the vast minority. That data shows that. Most gamers play on 1080p.
Until you can supply data to support your argument (like I have), I'm sorry, but you ARE WRONG. Deal with it.
Anyways on topic there is some of us playing over 1080p. That being said they already confirmed it is a priority fix in the pinned messages. So I'm going to guess we'll get an update for it soon.
The only change has been from CRT to flat panel.
That being said, for an early access game 1080 is perfectly fine for the consumer. 1080 is by far the most common aspect ratio around the world. I'm playing on a 4k TV, but 1080 works just fine for me in EA.
Check the road map, different res and res scaling is soon to come. FOV will likely come with that
I can't play this game. The UI is so big I can't see out of my helmet. Refunding until I see if it gets fixed.
Note: my monitor is 3440 a 1440. I'd include a picture but there doesn't appear to be a option to attach one.
Yeah, the UI is filling too much space at the moment and overlapping.
Did not refund the game, as they told us that this gets fixed in one of the first patches, so I just wait a little and if needed, I could still play it perfectly fine on my laptop at 1080p.
