Its a little bit weaker than an GTX 1070 and under certain circumstances roughly the same.
Nothing to sneer at imho.
Used to have a GTX 980, still have it but finally replaced it after 4 years of solid service with an RTX (asus rog strix OC edition) 2060, and admittedly its a huge upgrade when you compare it to each other.
But its not surprising, chips are smaller, produce less heat, require less energy but performs way better.
You'll see the same thing with RDNA2 or the RTX 3080 etc etc.
I was really asking because if a 980 is their recommended card, the game is likely very optimized, which should be great news for everyone.
I disagree, i mean kind of. :P
I'm now at a point where i either buy a very expensive new gaming pc for a minimum of lets say roughly ~2000 eu.
Or i buy a ps5/XsX for about 1/4th of that and have (if it was a pc!) a decent piece of hardware.
Certainly the ps5 has some tech in it not even available for pc for a while... and once available its always very expensive the first x months or even years.
I've been using a GTX 1080TI for 2 years now and waiting for a RTX 3080TI or RTX 3090 as some upcoming games like Cyberpunk 2077, my card will struggle when using high settings.
Since I don't have a console anymore, I have been dedicated to my PC and have been saving for my new card for some time. The upcoming PS5 and it's exclusive games look nice though and may decide to pick one up as it would be nice to relax on a couch or bed in front of my 4K TV and not worry about components lol 😁
I would be really surprised if your 1080Ti would struggle with anything, certainly on 1080p.
4k might be a different matter.
If it struggles, the problem is most likely your CPU.
You cant just put in a higher end GPU and think it will do all the work, the CPU can easily become the bottleneck.
This you will almost always notice in terms of frames per second.
Yup, that and RAM. First thing they taught us at DIY computer build school
Please tell me which tech the PS5 runs that a PC does not, yet :)
I am listening very carefully with a smile on my face.
The controller?
And how did this thread get into consoles anyways?
It's not that my GPU struggles, I suppose that's a bad word. I suppose not adequate for my personal requirements would be a better choice of words. I like to run games at very high settings and also at a very high frame rate. I am just greedy lol 😁
Not sure why you’d be sitting there with a creepy smile on your face.
But how about the SSD and the architecture / pipelines to handle all that data?
Not available yet for pc.
Closest you can come to is a gen4 ssd at almost 5gb/s and thats like half the price of the ps5.
And its Not compatible with the ps5 even due to the 2 lane vs 6 lanes thing on the ps5.
So you need a future yet to come out ssd that can go up to 7.5gb/s to compensate for lack of extra lanes pc ssd’s usually are designed with.
To be honest I would almost call it a design flaw from sony, who the heck is going to add his or her own very expensive ssd to expand the storage?
