32 gig updates!?

Why is every update for this game the size of the WHOLE GAME!?

Oh boy! I don´t know! For me at the Epic Launcher is the size only the size from the update. Just few mb

Because steam often downloads the whole game when it updates. It's deleting a lot the old files. Check file size when an update happens to confirm.

Ouch, I've had games do that before but wasn't expecting it with every update. I'm guessing it's to work out all the Steam kinks. Just hoping this don't become the norm.

Look at the total file size, it's 32 gigs, the update was only 22mb

This is a common misconception. The game update is usually smaller than the game, but it PATCHES the entire game so if you don't look at the right spot on the download page it looks like it's downloading the whole game when it's not. There are two different numbers you need to look at, one's the actual patch size, the other is how much data it's patching - often that shows a huge number because it may be adding 20 or 30 megabytes to a 2 gigabyte file so it adds 2 gig to the total.

If you look at the download, it will say something like [Downloaded 23MB, Patching 30G] something like that. At least for me it just downloads the small bit, just takes for ever to patch it.
