I cant place the steam engine

so I know I have what is needed for the steam engine but the cursor itself will not move the steam engine over the part of the train I want it goes on 1 corner then jumps to the back section of my train and will not slide over the area i need it at to place it. I cannot progress in the game without placing the steam engine and apparantly it will not let me do this. I have to approach the nose of the steam engine with my camera and subtly move my camera to get any movement out of the object other than doing that it doesnt really let me move the object.

What I did to place mine is clear off the starting handcar platform and upgrade it to at least 3 sections and the new steam locomotive should place

Steam Engine takes a LOOOT of space. I crammed everything together to make room and I regretted it.

It is best to completely clear the locomotive wagon of any obstacles - move them to other wagons or temporarily remove them. Any obstacles at the engine border will prevent you from building it.

I discovered you have to have a floor of some kind installed. You can't strip the platform bare. This doesn't make a lot of sense, but there it is.
