I've unlocked Train Armor, but can't build it. Why?

I've unlocked Train Armor, but can't build it (both, depot and by hammer). It shows in no menu. Why?

you have to build it at the depot after building walls onto the train

Doesn't appear in depot either. Do I need diesel engine for it?

You build it on wagon sides. First you build the wagon sides, then you can add armour on it afterwards. Both in the depot.

Ah, wagon sides. I'm yet to unlock it. I only can expand wagons so far. Probably because I'm not too far in the game.

I'm on phase 33 (maximum research by the look of things), and area 18 or so, and I still haven't gotten them. I'm very confused as to how the upgrade system in this game works at times. :/

Im in a similar moment. they told me to carry the materials needed for steam engine, and then on the train workshop, I can only add another cart. But still have the mats for the steam engine.

I see the icon to mount it, but it says I must dismount previous engine first. Which one is that? I tried to dismount the thing you use to speed up, but cant.

So im not sure if Im silly or its simply locked behind story progress? or a bug, cause it seemed story progress was telling me to build the steam engine, not an additional cart XD

You need to remove the push-cart thing, the thing you can see the handles of in the bottom left of this image:

Click on it in the 'builder' at the platform (there should be a white circle right near it, click that), and then remove it. Then you can build the steam engine.

The steam engine is huge though so you need to clear out about a three by eight-or-nine section of the train.

Decorations, including wagons sides, cabins etc are unlocked as decorations by feeding the rofleemos with mushrooms you get from chests from Witch/Arena Islands.

Yeah, give little Roffles shrouds, they get high, and they give you blueprints... much like scientists of that Era 🤣
