How do i play with my friends online?

Hello,

Whoever is hosting must start/resume a game, set "Is it an open server?" under Session in the Pause Menu to "Only for friends" or "Yes". If you choose “Yes”, then anyone can find the game in the "Find Game" option in the main menu. If you choose “Only for friends”, then only those in your Steam contacts list can see the server in the “Find Game” option in the main menu. The server can be closed again afterwards, if you wish.

what about if the option to set session to "yes" or "only for friends" does not change off "no"? i hear a sounds that it registers the click but does not switch. steam invites don't work either and no sessions appear on the find game browser

What specifically is the problem with coop in your case?

similar problem, session doesnt work as intended, i can hear the clicking sound while selecting but it does not switch to "yes" or "friend only"

Do you have a synchronized Steam + Epic Games account in game settings? If it was synced, try unlinking it and linking it again, please.

Can you not play this multiplayer without an epic account? I saw it mentioned in another thread it is not working, but cannot get multiplayer to work for some reason on steam through restarts and having same issue as OP.

It is possible to play without an Epic Account, but if your Steam account was ever linked to the EGS system before, the system requires you to relink your account. Until this is done, the online multiplayer functionality will not be available. This is a bug in the online system itself, and we are in the process of trying to resolve it or waiting for a response from the system devs.

I have my steam and epic linked , didnt relink . My wife only got steam and koop works like a charm.
1.) Open game and set game to open to friends (didnt test the ofen for all option)
2.) Wife invites herself via steam in my game
3.) fun ^^

Boxes are only highlightet for the hostplayer as far as i know . Looked at a box at my wifes PC and it was dark while shiny blue on my screen.
That an the missing winch/throwing hooks are the only Koop drawbacks.

I've found trying to join a Steam Friends server in the game doesn't work but just click on their username in Stead and Invite to game, works all the time.

Having a similar issue. Whenever i send an invite to my friend he can accept it, but then it sends him back to the main menu. We've both reset the game, steam itself, and our pcs. Any other options/ideas?

Apologize for the inconvenience. We are trying to solve the connection issues quickly, but we are still in the process. As temporary potential solutions, I will list the following items:

"If you or a friend cannot connect to the session, note the following points:

1. We don't affect the connection between players in any way, it's direct. Most likely, the problem is with some local network aspects;
2. If you already had a synchronized Steam + Epic Games account in game settings, try unlinking it and linking it again, please.
3. Add the game to firewall exceptions or try disable firewall.
4. Make sure there is no third-party software like Hamachi or VMWare and antivirus installed on your PC. Unfortunately, antivirus or some third-party programs can block the game launch and some game files and features.

Try adding the game, Steam, as well as the steammaps folder to the antivirus exclusions.

Unfortunately, excluding the game from the antivirus may not help. In this case, we recommend at least temporarily removing the antivirus and using the standard Windows Defender. After removing the antivirus, you need to restart your PC and check the integrity of the game files through the Steam library.
