can't build walls

I have researched walls twice and cannot find a way to build them, they are not in decor, nor are they in the station builder thing under constructions. I have no clue what to do or what I'm doing wrong

In station builder, there are small circles on the train. (One per platform, which is four per wagon.) Click on one of those.

I figured it out, I didn't realize you couldn't build them on the wagon with the engine

There are some rails you can build there, later. And you can build a cab on the back of that wagon. But yeah, generally that wagon is for engines and otherwise pretty limited.

I haven't been able to build a cab or change the appearance of the engine yet...when does that happen?

Walls, cabins, and armor for walls/cabins are researched through the technology tree.

If you have researched walls/cabins/armor, they can be installed through the construction console in the depot using pins on the locomotive or wagons. I have recorded a short video tutorial on how to do this
