My buddy and I had a drinking game where we took a shot every time there was an outbreak of consumption in our realms. We starting playing at 8pm and were drunk by 9pm
But, yes, there is a setting for the overall frequency.

It made them so nasty that when the black plague spawned.... It was very underwhelming, I think i had like 4 "black plagues" all striking my realm at once before the real one spawned, and they were far more damaging. The entire map was constantly filled with multiple black spots in different locations.
Still, nobody of value in my court ever died to any of them, many landed family members in other lands did, however, which greatly culled my family size, so by the 3rd generation , when I should have had thousands of family members I still had something like 400, so it did add a little bit of challenge, to the point I was starting to build plague resistance buildings for every duchy, never actually completed them because as usual CK3 doesn't last for more than 3 generations as the game gets too boring/easy but still, the most annoying part of the plagues wasn't the damage itself, it was the constant event spam.
If I keep those lands relatively small and low on development plagues generally leave them be (non coastal or off of navigable rivers will also help immensely) when I move on. Once tech/innovations, traditions, and marrying for traits progresses far enough I can permanently settle down and create an end run kingdom/empire that can largely deal with plagues without having to isolate forever.
Also get to play those second/third sons that end up looking more promising than the first seed with a little less scheming and trying to rig inheritance that way.
Yes, in that first sentence it says updated for 1.13.0.3 and current version is 1.14.2.2. You would have to roll back to that beta version for the mod to work. You can check on it in the description or ask after/see if it will be further updated in the comments section of the mod in the workshop.
