How well this dlc treats Christianity?
As title says, I’m curious about how this DLC treats the faith, If it treats it decently or not

The game has a community on r*ddit, and sometimes people from that website talk and react here. Need I say more?

Things seem pretty random. Christianity can potentially get really weird just a 100 years in after a few councils and popes getting a free "♥♥♥♥ things up for the hell of it" button at least once per term.

Sounds historically accurate.
Define decently.

In-game, the DLC is pretty relativistic - if you want to RP a devout Catholic supporting Christ's Church on Earth, you can. At the same time, if you want to approach the Church as merely an institution; a tool to weaponize in the most cynical fashion, you can as well. This is the best approach, I think, gameplay wise.

I've watched each preview livestream, and the community manager & QA lead were fairly respectful, obviously attempting not to stray into controversy (I recall them quickly dropping the subject of Transubstantiation as being 'literally cannibalism' before they said too much).

But some pre-release marketing (I'm thinking of one of their 'mini-docs') had a historian discuss medieval Christianity broadly, but she was very disrespectful to Christians, and especially Catholics - describing the Holy Trinity as "one big blob", and the Great Schism as some attempted "power grab by the Pope". Additionally, one achievement requires that you puppet the Pope, and have him cuckold you.
Crusader Kings treats Christianity far better than the demonic cult and its cavalcade of cuckolds deserves.
Having historical accuracy will get some people to call it "disrespect".
Call Crusade right away, take the whole mass away I'd say yes.

Indeed Catholicism is on the bad side since the 60s (second Vatican). I assume demonic is an ok adjective to describe what is happening. But speaking broadly, Orthodoxy is all right as it stands the test of time unchanged despite the seat of Ecumenical Patriarchy is defiled since 16th century.
I wonder if Orthodoxy is covered as well in this dlc? Decently = exactly what people interpreted it to be. It’s not rocket science

Thank you, that’s the response I was expecting :brotherfist:
I get that the game is well, “a game” and some of its charm comes from the abundance of choices, if not all of it.

Was curious if people who were responsible for this product are in any way related to Christianity and explore it deeper in the game as the faith first, and the game mechanic second. In short, if the devs respect Christian faith.
From the looks of it, some people who are active in discussions are really against Christianity? Or what's up with these reactions? Why?
DLC is totally unplayable until I can have a horse pope!
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
