About Adventurers & the DLCs (kinda rant)
Community Support & The Base Game
I wanna say that I help people within the MP community with trying out DLCs and giving advice on what they should buy and what they shouldn't. I think it's good to expand on base game, even if that = making some DLCs over a longer period of time free to users. Adventurers add so much new playstyles to the game that people would really love, being a wandering knight making a sellsword company (using a mod you can become bankers and reclaim the debt). Or robber knights, kidnapping nobles and murdering for money.

The Content Pricing Problem
But what I do have a problem with is that Paradox are still charging the same full price for the DLC they are essentially cutting 50% of the content for by making it free.

Adventurers are a great part of the game. It's awesome more people get to play with them but paradox essentially said they will not receive any further updates or content additions to replace content that is being made free.
[] No new activities for them[] No new camp buildings[] No more contract types[] No adventurer based cosmetics
It's all free - and essentially a waste of £15~ for people.

The 11-Month Content Drought
Then the huge gap in time for new content imo, its really a stretch. the fact is that paradox has not given us a proper content update since All Under Heaven, in October 2025 - and now it will be closer to October 2026 that we actually get By God Alone. It's slightly more than 11 months with no content updates made by paradox themselves (not counting Henry). After that, we barely know when silk & silver will come along, they said Q4 however I honestly dont know about that.

Reliance on the Community
Dont get me wrong, the QOL update was good but it barely touched the edges imo & again, was done by a community member in large - not by paradox themselves. Their cosmetics, community in large. What I think would be cool is if they worked with the community more, but maybe tried to pull their weight a bit. 11 months is a *really* long time for content updates actually by the dev team.

So honestly, why should people be so certain with future content for the game? They just use community mods & members to fill in their gaps of absence and its pretty disappointing.

Some fun notes:

Assuming your only accounting for DLC labeled as Core and Major:
(RC, T&T,LotD, RtP, KotS, AUH, BGA)

BGA will hold the 2nd largest Major/Core Gap of 337 Days, beaten only by T&T which holds a gap of 457 days between major addons.

Now taking account of all major versions:
Assuming we get 1.20 with BGA's release, that would make 1.19, which lacks a proper associated DLC, the 4th longest active version at 163 Days. This also means it falls 9 days short of third place, that being 1.18 (AUH)'s active time of 173 days.

The longest Active version remaining as 1.4 at 245 days leading up to RC's 1.5 release
When CK3 releases updates Players: "STOP UPDATING MY GAME, IT BREAKS MY MODS"
When CK3 slows down releases to give it more time: "WHY AREN'T YOU UPDATING MY GAME EVERY 2 MINUTES?"

true but the main complaint isnt that.
11 months of no major content addition *in-house* by Paradox themselves (not counting cosmetic packs). and as above. Sure, major updates break mods - people get mad. but doesn't = devs shouldn't add content. My main complaint isnt the massive lack of content additions though, its these 2 things -
1. making a core part of the DLC free WITHOUT any content additions to replace or enhance for DLC owners to make up for it.
2. still charging full price for the DLC they are making *mostly* free, essentially overcharging people. which they will not receive their money back.
(also 3. saying they won't be adding content to adventurers essentially :steamsalty:).

But this as above, it's not my main complaint but it is a complaint - 337 days for a content update is painful especially after they make a core DLC's content free:

People who complain about this are ridiculous.
Mods are player driven and player responsibility.
Mods break because PDX makes updates that update or patch the game.
people act like they're bethesda, pushing updates meant to break mods intentionally to sell "mods".

I disagree with this. RtP focus was on updating the greek/roman experience, and introduction of the Administrative government type.

Adventurer always stuck out as a sore thumb and should really have been separately bundled in the "Wandering Nobles" as a lesser expansion DLC and released prior to RtP.
I think it was included in RtP due to the overlap of features shared with the "Family Manors" and PDX wanting to include an extra way for people to abandon their lands and travel to the B.E.

The majority of DLC is still part of RTP.
People should not receive refunds.
PDX should revaluate and update the overall price of that DLC to reflect the change.
Most people bought the DLC discounted or bundled anyway. PDX is on sale so frequently.

I don't care for PDX's business model, but they update the game with free updates and paid addons in a live service seasonal format. This lets them iterate the game and keep it going. I'm surprised at how popular Adventure is given the recent data shared, as I think its some of the worst content added to the game, but I have not seen any good argument against PDX deciding to make the old locked down content part of the base game.
