Why did my heir come out with a martial learning trait
Heir was given a guardian and sent to university from birth. The guardian had the tier 4 learning education lifestyle trait, because I wanted her to pass on the learning lifestyle to him so my next heir could be a learner.

16 years later, he comes out with a tier 3 martial education trait. What am I missing? Even taking into consideration skill weight, his guardian's martial was 9 and her learning was 21. I am tired of martial kings, 3 in a row is boring

You can choose what your children are educated in. It's the er... 2nd icon next to their portrait if I'm remembering correctly. I'd guess your culture might have a bias towards rowdy (without any input, they'll default based on their childhood personality trait, with rowdy defaulting to martial) if you've had 3 in a row, but could also just be RNG.

Guardians don't have any impact on the type of education; they just determine its quality (based on learning, intelligence traits I think and the education type's linked stat) and I think the child's personality traits. Personally, I educate my heirs myself for more control over the latter. I'd rather get a slightly worse education and not end up with a paranoid, shy, craven heir. You can always go to university as an adult later, which'll hopefully yield an upgraded education (and can be part of a POI tour for more lifestyle xp).
My god, I am a ding dong. Thanks so much I had no idea that was an option!!
You can also change the focus for vassals' children (and child-aged vassals) if they accept a guardian offer.

For example to prevent them from turning into seducers / schemers or warlords.
