Load Button Still Doesn't Work
it has been like 5 years, why do I still have to exit to the main menu and then load

Couldn't say. I'm not much of a save scummer, so I'm perhaps not the best example, but I've never had that issue with loading saves. Do you have these issues in a vanilla, unmodded game?
