- Ensured that you can choose your own chaplain, instead of it being auto-filled, if you have ruler clerical appointment.
So you should be able to manually appoint a court chaplain, similar to other council positions, if your religion has temporal clerical appointment.
u sure its chaplain and not a realm priest?
i think that might be a realm priest which is automatically chosen for u bc of the theology doctrine
if not then it might be a bug
They can't already have/be a court position/advisor (I think - just being a knight might even block them if it is not a religion that allows theocratic warriors), need to be physically present in your court as a courtier (or be a vassal), and need to be of the correct religion/sexual orientation to fill the position. If you have available qualified people travelling or actively involved in events (like a feast, hunt, or tourney) that may block an appointment as well until they return home - but I'm not certain of it.
Positions that are filled by a head of faith that IS NOT you will have auto selected/generated characters fill them - I don't think that happens with directly appointed theocratic positions.
Isolation of your capitol (for a plague) may also block vassals from travelling to fill advisor roles - I have never tried to fill a vacant one from outside my own courtiers during an isolation.
The rule was "Temporal - For Life"
Even after the plague ended and my capital was no longer isolated, I couldn't add a new councilor. I had to reform my faith just to keep playing the game because the church holdings were putting me over my domain limit (those are supposed to be leased to the court chaplain).
I reported it on the Paradox forums. It seems to be a bug; other folks of other faiths are having the same problem.
I’m wondering if the bug is tied to “temporal - for life”. As Bori, “temporal - revocable” seemed to be working fine this morning.
