No ♥♥♥♥... you start the game, as a beginner and you get hit by a plague almost every year/twice a year..

No, they're not "too frequent." They're sodding constant, continuous, unceasing, perpetual, incessant, overlapping, ubiquitous... And then, of course, there's the real plague. the pop ups. Don't even get me started on them... Personally, I've just had enough at this point and I'm off to the workshop to find a mod, any mod, that turns the damn things down...

https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=3185222826 Gonna try this. Loading it now. Seems a bit cheaty to turn them off entirely but it's getting ridiculous. I'd settle for something that makes them a once in twenty / thirty years thing that actually makes you react. And do something interesting. Rather than just go "Oh god another plague. That's the fifth this year."

The compromise I've done is to disable Minor and Major intensity epidemics. I've found Apocalyptic-only is going pretty well, so far.

Game is ruined with these plagues. Game is unplayable. Every character dies. In all of my years playing Ck2 and CK3 I have never been this frustrated by an update.

My domain being hit by epidemic no more than once per character. And my capital was infected something like two or three times in three centuries. I have a huge Samanid Empire of 351 counties and it's alway a plague somewhere, but it doesn't bother me until it hits my personal domain what happens pretty rarely.

The bigger your realm the higher likelyhood you have to deal with a plague somewhere with in it... XD

Just turn them off in game? Like, the games rules literally allow you to tweak how often they crop up?

I would lower the frequency not turn them off

I think those options are only at the start of a game - is there a way to turn them off mid game? That wd help.

More generally, at new game, I'm seeing options to set minor diseases to "fewer" and plague frequency to "rare / very rare" then ofc the black death stuff. How much diff do those settings make?

Part of the issue with plagues is that they absolutely spam message pop ups at you - even though the thing is minor and miles away.

When they do hit your provinces, the thing Ive found most annoying is the development loss. It seems huge, at least given how long it takes to develop a province.

I don’t mind if plagues are frequent, just turn the amount of event popups down.

Like every month you get a popup for some stupid plague that I don’t care about.

I found out, you don't screw around with plagues.
You build preventive measures early and quickly!
A hospital in EVERY barony be it castle, town or church.

And invest in a skilled doctor!
You want a good or excellent physician employed AT ALL TIMES!

I learned this one a while back from dying knights. Having a skilled physician cuts down dramatically on this.
