More generally, at new game, I'm seeing options to set minor diseases to "fewer" and plague frequency to "rare / very rare" then ofc the black death stuff. How much diff do those settings make?
Part of the issue with plagues is that they absolutely spam message pop ups at you - even though the thing is minor and miles away.
When they do hit your provinces, the thing Ive found most annoying is the development loss. It seems huge, at least given how long it takes to develop a province.
Like every month you get a popup for some stupid plague that I don’t care about.
You build preventive measures early and quickly!
A hospital in EVERY barony be it castle, town or church.
And invest in a skilled doctor!
You want a good or excellent physician employed AT ALL TIMES!
I learned this one a while back from dying knights. Having a skilled physician cuts down dramatically on this.
