This just sounds like bad luck, or you have several enemies.
Will be MUUUCH more careful from now on lol
Yeah, one thing I'm always careful of when sending my kids to a peer meeting or get-together is whether or not the person in charge there really hates me and/or my kid enough to kill them.
I'm not sure if drowning is a possible assassination plot result, but it certainly seems the most common way for a kid to die at these things.
That references the 16th century and specifically in England. It doesn't explain why cultures where swimming was common have similar rates of death in ck3.
At some point, I did wisen up and start doing those checks to see if the child inviting mine was a bully of my child or some other child, and I use the In My Humble Opinion mod to tell what the surrounding adult characters think of my child, etc. One thing that irks me and gets an instant NO is when the little brat says something like 'all of the best kids will be there, and unfortunately, that means your kid, too.' From that point on, that child and his/ her family instantly go on my radar of people to watch.
There's a mod that is called something like Stop Inviting My Child, but I've never used it. If you like mods, you might want to install that one.
