Shouldn't your child dying in a childhood meetup be like 1 in a million chance?
I've had like 5 children in the same game die going to meet their peers.
Why would you EVER accept this event? How do you disable it?
What a waste of time.

The game likes to hide undetected assassinations in otherwise mundane events.

I've never had a child die during a meetup. Sounds like bad luck, or somebody hates you/your child

Doesn't sound like bad luck to me. Sounds like someone is out for blood.

I've only had this happen once (and I never figured out if it was truly an accident). Check your relations with the ruler/court the kid is being invited to before letting them go. If your kid's going to the court of your rival, chances are pretty high something bad can happen.

This just sounds like bad luck, or you have several enemies.

Yeah, one thing I'm always careful of when sending my kids to a peer meeting or get-together is whether or not the person in charge there really hates me and/or my kid enough to kill them.

I'm not sure if drowning is a possible assassination plot result, but it certainly seems the most common way for a kid to die at these things.

That references the 16th century and specifically in England. It doesn't explain why cultures where swimming was common have similar rates of death in ck3.

Actually if you ever end up playing as your child heir, you get a decision to meet your peers. It's a couple events with other rulers kids, a lot of the time you can increase one or two points of an attribute. Sometimes though you can fall from a tree and get wounded or die. Happened in one of my games lol. Anyways when that pop up shows up thats whats usually happening. I normally decline though when they ask for my heir cause they have died from drowning before

Those events happen for your children too when invited to someone else's court. They'll sometimes come back with those increases, or even extra traits

When I was new to the game, I always naively let my children go off to these meetups without even checking to see the home situation of the extender of the invitation- stupid on my part, yes, but I've never had a child die from one of these meetups. Thanks for letting me know this was actually a thing.

At some point, I did wisen up and start doing those checks to see if the child inviting mine was a bully of my child or some other child, and I use the In My Humble Opinion mod to tell what the surrounding adult characters think of my child, etc. One thing that irks me and gets an instant NO is when the little brat says something like 'all of the best kids will be there, and unfortunately, that means your kid, too.' From that point on, that child and his/ her family instantly go on my radar of people to watch.

There's a mod that is called something like Stop Inviting My Child, but I've never used it. If you like mods, you might want to install that one.
