Why is the map so damn bright?
Along with the new ugly characters, the map is just so bright and actually hurts my eyes to watch. I can't play more than 5 minutes without taking a break. What was Paradox thinking?

For the character models changing the Render Scale in the settings should fix it, though they have messed up the way appearance is tied to culture right now I think. The Render Scale is dropped down to 70% and when you bump it up it should help. It also makes the map more defined and darker because you see more things on it.

That doesn't seem to be the problem. It seems the developers increased the exposure on the paper map so it's much brighter and there is no way to fix it without mods.

That's unfortunate. It fixed the overexposure problem for me.

It also seems like they did random balances changes and changed what certain counts/ dukes own

Let's be real here, this game is really only playable with mods, lol. I have a base of 9 mods, then I play around with more.

Yeah, unfortunately I have a weird need to play with no mods just in case I decide to go for an achievement.

This community is always so divided. I don't think this game needs mods, outside of total conversion ones. The free updates are generally really well thought out, despite sometimes shipping with bugs, they generally add a ton of content behind the scenes and front and center. Such as the culture creation, new events, updated historical locations, etc.

But yeah I feel like they added additional graphic settings, but I don't think the map is all that bright beyond what I'd expect.

Once you get used to CK2 and content, CK3 needs mods to keep up with it.

Disagree, I have 1k+ hours in ck2 and find that ck3 is a better game overall.
I used to play CK2 before, but ever since I got CK3 I can't get back into it. I kind of am in the boat where I think CK3 is fine without mods, but I just like using mods in games, because it's fun to see what custom content can be made for the game. Also I am one of the few people who doesn't like total conversion mods since they are not modular, and I like to combine multiple mods, so total conversion mods aren't the best for me.
