Not really, outside from the fact you may keep the cadet-branch alive and going.
And the descendents of old houses like that no longer have titles, only a name.
It doesn't matter on the long run.
But what happens to the others ?
Yes, it is possible to have much more than 100 living members in the dynasty (168 in the dynasty above, and I killed a lot myself to make room for the others)
At that point I don't care anymore about renown.
Of course there is also a bit of danger of having powerful relatives. They are usually more friendly but also some times have claims overlapping your own.
Btw my main save has 5k living members in my dynasty if I recall correctly, Sometimes I'll grant empires and stuff out too.
