Any reason to help other houses in my Dynasty?
Like sometimes when I see that the house has less members than mine I marry one of my less important children into the house to increase their members, but I don't know if this is working against me in the long run or could help.

More dynasty members means more dynastic renown means more dynastic legacies means more power for you. Thus, helping any dynasty member (even those outside of your house) is a benefit.

Not really, outside from the fact you may keep the cadet-branch alive and going.

It is your choice. I do the same, I married some carolingian with Riourikide decendents because after 200 years there were 380 carolingians left and only 12 riourikide, which is a shame.
And the descendents of old houses like that no longer have titles, only a name.
It doesn't matter on the long run.

But dynastic size caps at a 100 members?

Obviously not. Or at least not with cadet branches. Before the death of the first carolingians in the game I mention there were 14 cadet branches , and as each member has an average 12 or 14 children it grows very fast.

I meant renown wise. I have dynasties over 1000+ members but the living member score caps at 100.

Maybe you are right, I could not find a valid save of the game to see how many were still alive. It is very possible the living members are limited, I didn't think of this
But what happens to the others ?

I thought it was 200, but living members can eventually gain titles or marry someone with a title. A living member is always an asset. A dead or nonexistent dynasty member is not.

They exist, they just don't contribute to monthly renown gain

Well they could, they just don't do it automatically. Like Bruiser said, any dynasty member can potentially contribute to renown if they gain a title.

I found my old save on a backup disk.
Yes, it is possible to have much more than 100 living members in the dynasty (168 in the dynasty above, and I killed a lot myself to make room for the others)
At that point I don't care anymore about renown.

You get much larger bonuses from your dynasty if they hold a title and are outside your direct control(or maybe it is they have to be independent and not a vassal of someone). So if you can finagle it so that house takes over a kingdom or something, that can actually make a huge impact. If they actually have titles from other kingdoms and stuff, then it is definitely worth helping them out.

Of course there is also a bit of danger of having powerful relatives. They are usually more friendly but also some times have claims overlapping your own.

How? I had 100+ members before even getting three renown upgrades. How do you not care about renown before even finishing a full tree?

More houses in your dynasty means more members of your dynasty. I would support them before anyone else whom isnt your family but still but your house first.

Btw my main save has 5k living members in my dynasty if I recall correctly, Sometimes I'll grant empires and stuff out too.

When I do that non-dynasty members from within my empire gobble up any outside empire with ease.
