Mordred is dead

So as I understand it, when Mordred dies, the game is over and you must reload. However, I finished a quest and when I came back Mordred was not on my roster at the bottom of the screen. I assumed, at first, that this was some sort of event, but alas, I found him in my crypt. I am playing this campaign on the roguelite setting; how do I continue if i cannot find a way to resurrect him?

Edit: Mordred was not used in the previous mission "The Wild Hunt", but another character did die during; he is also in the crypt.

Unless you have the one resurrect item, I think it's game over. Odd way for the game to say it though.

Heroes die after cathedral - dunno - left with another team
maybe some hidden meme.. completeng sidhe season -
sir kay was healing in cathedral - after mission = dead in crypt
sir le noir was healing in cathedral - killed by morgana after mission...
morgana long ago dead
