You can do that for merchant and magic tower restock, too. It's a bit lame to do but items are quite important in late game so it is hard to say no to a good "free" item from the forge (I also don't like that you can't upgrade/level up your desired item there but always get a random item - stupid design decision imo)
Level up should have an option if you want to keep the base item or create a new one.
And the other big weakness is that "enhancing" doesn't scale with the level/rarity.
+2 armor or damage is great in the beginning but useless for relics considering it needs a topaz to use it.
I do wish there was an option to just forge a relic with the traits want for like 3 topaz and 2k dust. that seems like a fair price. The game's a lot of fun but the replayability is only there if you can build out the different heroes in different ways.
I don't want to be stuck with lvl 5 relics at lvl 25 because nothing better has come up due to RNG. (For the story missions)
Would you wait for endgame to use up your gems and dust though? I'm lvl 15 on the second highest difficulty and until now i didn't have any problem but i read that there is a difficulty spike later.
I bought items from the Tower when I wanted them and didn't worry about it too much. Also, you can buy dust for gold and you should have lots of gold from selling greens and blues. I've only used a few Topazes on items I feel like I'll keep around for 5-10 levels.
Yes. Sometimes new higher level greens or blues are way better than low level relics. And that's one of my minor issues with this game. A relic should be a relic. A relic should be rare and OP until 10 levels higher. Maybe every five levels for this game though. I don't know what Max level is but I think it's 25?
That's how the good relics with unique effects work. Sadly, good relics are fairly rare. Most are just slightly stronger regular items.
I stopped selling relics, hopefully it maximizes my chances to get other relics instead of the same bad relic again.
