Are DLC adding anything to the main campaign?

I am not really a fan of DLC side-campaigns or alternative campaigns that You cannot play in the main game so wondering whether to buy as I did not really understand whether these skrimishes are additional maps added into base game that I can go into with Mordred or something akin to separate arena-like thingy.

Skirmishes are completely separate, they're like "mini-campaigns" but with no roster management or world map. It's just a series of predefined missions that you have to win. Honestly they're pretty boring and kind of a chore to go through and I'm a bit annoyed that they added yet another one with the last patch because I'll need to go through it if I wanna keep my 100% completion. At least it's free. But the paid ones? Yeah wouldn't recommend unless you're a completionist.

There's a proper campaign DLC coming next year but it won't add anything to the main campaign either, it'll be a separate campaign where we get to play as the Romans (presumably with new hero types, or at least I hope so)

Damn, I really dislike this kind of dlcs, and yeah, I am a completionist, I will consider buying it just for that, but damn, I hate this practice of locking achievements into paid side campaigns, these are usually super boring as well, though I have no idea about ones in this game, must admit though, reviews and You saying these are boring don't really make me too happy about considering buuying them :v
