Morgawse or Merlin?
Any impact on story? Who is the stronger character?

Morgawse is an Old-Faith/Tyrant Sage while Merlin is an Old-Faith Arcanist. Both are pretty unique for their classes: Morgawse is very offensive for a Sage, trading most of the Sage buffs for more offensive options. Merlin meanwhile focuses on fire spells and trades the standard hexes for some unique spells. Both are very powerful and you can't really go wrong with either, though both have annoying negative traits (Morgawse can't drink potions, and I believe Merlin loses loyalty if he isn't utilizing all relic gear.)

The choice doesn't have a huge impact on plot that I've seen, so mostly pick the one that works best with your alignment choice. Morgawse fits right in if you're going Old-Faith/Tyrant and is the most obtainable Sage for Christian/Tyrant. Merlin does very well for Old-Faith/Rightful.

Thanks! Her thunderstorm cc is super good when the AI charges headlong into it XD

Merlin in general just broken, this dude doesn’t need to stun anything, he can delete everything by himself, give him some support aka bonus AP + something to reduce fire cost spell and he’ll solo anyone.
All games have almost the same idea - you don’t need to stun, to tank or reduce AP of the enemy if you can kill them faster then they will hit you, think about it.

Merlin is also great for endgame missions as his illusion can gather shards without getting any penalty or having to move a character to a dangerous place besides distracting the enemy.

If you are a Just/Christian then Morgawse will leave you 90%

Merlin is S level. Morgawse is A level.

Merlin has massive magic damage (fire damage) and very strong buffs, useful curses, and illusion skills with teleportation.

The Morgawse has very good defensive stats and can be a strong tank. Her lightning magic doesn't deal huge damage, but it can significantly weaken the enemy's army.

The choice doesn't really matter for the plot. Only in one mission you will hear unique remarks.

OldFaith-Rightful : Merlin (+loyalty)
Chr-Tyrant : Morgawse (~)

OldFaith-Tyrant : Morgawse (++loy)
Chr-Rightful : Merlin (-loy) (may be mitigated)

So basically;
If you are Tyrant : Morgawse
