Do you need a rework of Mordred?
Do you like Mordred's abilities?

Personally, I don't like his skills, many of them are useless or become ineffective in the second half of the game.

Useless Skills:
Cleave
Flurry
Vigilance
All Resistance

Ineffective Skills:
Bleeding Strike for Strike
Cast Stigma
Robust

Extremely useful skills:
Shield Charge
Thunderbolt
Chain Lightning

Mordred is useful as a tanky support through Thunderbolt control and Shield Charge.

For effective Cleave and Flurry, he doesn't have the Bleeding and Master Bleeding bonuses.

Skills he lacks:
Master of Lightning
Thunder Storm
Shock instead of Bleeding Strike

What is your opinion about Mordred's abilities? Do they suit you, or would you like a better skill tree?

As of right now, I'm still on my first playthrough with the campaign and Mordred is level 17. So far, I think his kit is great. I just use him purely for tank and don't bother with damage. But I could see him potentially falling off soon. I use him for shredding armor and putting space between the enemies and my damage dealers. I usually just toss him in front of everything and let him be a true tank. I think it's a waste to build him with damage.

But I definitely think that he should have more utility in his kit. Like you mentioned, bleeding is useless. Unless you build your damage heroes to do extra damage against bleeding targets, then the skill point can be a waste. I like the idea of giving him better utility passives for his basic strike. Shock, chill, and vulnerability are all great options in my opinion.

As far as improving his overall skill tree, I would like to see more utility. Maybe give him a kick or a ranged knock back. I'm really surprised that he doesn't have taunt. Another idea is maybe giving the player the option to pick what type of skill tree they want to use. Or giving the player additional skill trees on top of what he already has in his kit. Maybe it could work in such a way where building certain skills closes off other skills.

Yes, the defender class is designed to receive blows and is significantly inferior in usefulness to other classes. For example, Red Knight has 150% bleeding and many useful moves. Sir Galahad or Sir Percivale have 50% burn and bless the team. Mordred only has very useful Lightning Bolts that will stun the enemy. This is very small for the main character.

He can't use Cleave effectively and Flurry as it doesn't have much damage and the bleed bonuses are too weak.

Yeah I agree with that. I haven't invested points into his bleed or cleave. I did invest into flurry, but only so I could get the passive that shreds armor in case the right situations arise. And that has been semi useful.

Right now his kit seems to aim for a mix of utility and damage. It's hard to say what exactly his skill tree should include since people want to play him in different ways. For my build, I primarily use Mordred to shred armor. But outside of that, he's only useful for controlling space lol So maybe a rework would be good for him. I think Mordred is useful (I actually use him in almost all of my missions), but I wouldn't say he is fun to play. I much prefer the Red Knight and Percivale kits over Mordred's kit. Their kits seem to have more synergy, where as Mordred's kit feels random and inconsistent.

The problem is with game in general. You never need tank as a role. You can clean entire battlefields in few turns including fomorians with stacking damage and AP returns at ease. There is never anything to really threaten you so there is no use for CC and there is no use for damage sponge. Couple mediocre ranged abilities really don't do much when you got tons of better options.
I really wish devs had given Mordred choice of class at start or let him make his own talent tree. Allow him every 2 levels for example pick choice of 3 random skills to be placed into his skill tree to use his points on.

Choosing a class for Mordred is already a completely different level of play, I don’t think it makes sense to dream about it.

Lightning magic in the game is well balanced, it would be nice if he was given more choice in the build, between focusing on magic or bloodletting. There are no other options for his character and class.

In his current state, he does not have the potential of a leader and a king, too many useless skills and too few useful ones, between blood and lightning is the best choice. In theory, there could also be skills to reflect damage, because it is covered in spikes and for a defender, only tactics through damage reflection gives at least some result.

In general, the defender and archer class loses to other classes.

As a leader, I must accompany my knights on every mission and it’s boring to sit back and be defensive. Mordred gets some damage boost and dashes around isolating enemies, control an area, etc. Maybe other classes do it better. That’s not how I play. I’m not a meta optimal person, that simply isn’t fun for me. I grab what is fun and figure out how to use it with my party.
TexanPiper Dec 9, 2022 @ 6:28pm
Yeah I hate playing defensive. It's boring, and the AI can punish you hard for being too defensive. I also switch up my combat parties often to try different hero/ item combinations. The game is a lot more fun that way. I usually avoid hero combinations that completely one shot everything too because that's no fun. Plus the rotations keep my heroes' levels balanced.

Damage reflection as a skill for Mordred would be really cool. I stack as much reflection as I can on Mordred. I've gotten numerous kills during enemy turns from that alone. Right now, I have three reflection items on him that reflect almost 20 damage per hit lol

So far, I don't have too many issues with the game. I'm only on my first run through going the Tyrant/ Old Gods route. But I would like to see some changes/ additions to Mordred's skill tree to make him more fun to play. Getting rid of blood and adding more lightning bonuses would make a lot of sense. Unless he gets significant blood damage boosts to his kit. Personally, I find the DOT in this game to be boring and low impact. I did upgrade my Red Knight to have +100% more blood damage, so I'll have to try that out soon.

That's why he lacks Master of Lightning and Thunder Storm, together with Thunderbolt and Chain Lightning, it turns out to be a pretty effective strategy for holding enemies back and shooting them from afar. Especially if you get an item for lightning damage when you kill with a lightning spell.

It's fun and not as deadly as your Assassins and Warriors are capable of slaughtering opponents in 2 turns.

Mods tend to be used by a smaller number of players, so it will be a problem if they are not available in the workshop. There are some basic standards. In my opinion, a weak skill tree for Mordred, given that his class in the game is one of the weakest, will not give the best experience. Those who write on the forum often say that Mordred is not the best choice for them.

There is big hope in the new mod, that i was posted on forum before.
There is Huge changes in skill trees and also on core lvl of game mechanics.
So there Mordred is...some kind of wizzard-summoner Champion-mage.

It's looks like absolutely crazy thing at first.
BUT!

In the start cinematic we can see all that insane thing.
Mordred is use his sword(btw it's looks like bastard sword for two hands grip) in the two handed mode in the first battle with Arthur. He's also use magic more often than strike's with sword. And the lady of lake called him as summoner of dark creatures.

So...This is looks like this mod can change a lot of things.

It really sounds like crazy, but the logic and concept is logical.

By the way, it's really strange that not a single knight has an innate summoning skill, except for bonuses from relics.

Btw, girlfriend of Tristan was Banshee, so why she is cant remember just some of the trics?
Багряный Dec 10, 2022 @ 11:29am
The same can be said about Tristan, as he is lost like Tavelin. Tavelin can raise undead, so why can't Tristan? And Sir Ector whose entire quest is related to necromancy.

Sir Ector became necromancer in another mod. KAKT.
Necromancy in the KAKT is looking rly well in concept.
